I could care less about his sex life -- I took more offense to his going on Jay Leno to talk about it. For years, I couldn't stand him. All that stuttering and blinking was irritating, like Clooney's refusal to make eye contact with anyone on ER.

But like Clooney, he's improved himself and stepped up his act(ing). I saw Bridget Jones' Diary to get a look at a healthy-looking Renee Zellweger, but ended up finding Hugh's bad boy act funny and charming. Next came About A Boy, which I'd read beforehand, so I was going to go see it - but ended up enjoying Hugh's performance again. He was the best thing about Two Weeks Notice, and I gladly gave my money to Love Actually this weekend, which was great.

I think he's paid his penance, along with the devastating loss of Liz Hurley. :silly: My mother lent me her copies of Notting Hill and Sense and Sensability, which I've never seen - and much to my surprise, I'm looking forward to it. Off to pop some popcorn...

1. I had a dream once

in which I loaned Hugh Grant money for drugs! And in the dream, I knew that he wouldn't pay me back, and he knew that I knew, but he knew that I'd give it to him anyway and he wanted his crack or whatever, so he asked me and I did, in fact, give him the money anyway.

3. He was seriously mis-cast in "Sense and Sensibility"

as Edward Ferrars. Even Emma Thompson, who was a good fifteen years too old for her part, was a better fit.

Unfortunately, before I saw the movie, I read a review mocking Hugh Grant's performance, which didn't help. All I could keep thinking was "he's doing that schtick they discussed in the review!"

5. I like him in most of the films he's been in.

He's a very good actor at times. That said the Hurley thing is at once mind boggling, she's gorgeous, and I suppose understandable. The whole "I'm in a box, I must rebel" thing seems to have been at work.
