The Christmas cards are depressing this year

So far I've received news of one benign brain tumor the size of a grapefruit, one death of pancreatic cancer, one melanoma probably cured, one lymphoma getting a stem-cell transplant, and two serious motorcycle accidents--one of the victims is severely brain-damaged and still on a respirator. Marriages and new babies we hear about right away; death, injury, and disease they save up for the Christmas cards.
