When you post something, you will see two links above your window. One will show you a list of smileie icons, while an other will give you an example of some mark up code. Things such as
Bold, Italics, Underline, colors, Type,
and
font .
I find that these formats are extremely helpful when engaging in debate, when quoting my self:
You should see a box of options pop up. From there you want
to find the "auto correct" tab. You should then
see a list of options that Work will swap out. You can
deselect the entire option, or find your "…" and
delete just that and leave the others intact. Or my opponent:
I dont know what you mean, code name d.It dramatically improves the readability of one's post. Especially when a lot of material is being covered. The problem is however that this mark up language can a bit cumbersome to type out, especially when you have to do it a lot. So I use this particular Word feature to help me out.
Actually, there are two separate features that do the same thing.
The one you just turned off is better for the shorter code such as <B> and </b> (Just replace the < & > with brackets.) Go back to the option window I gave you. Just inside the option you turned off, you will see two windows marked "Replace" and "with." In the "Replace" window, type in BB. In the "with" window, type in <B> (Just replace the < & > with brackets.). Repeat the process with EBB and </b> (Just replace the < & > with brackets.)
Then type (in Word) BB Hay! I can type in Bold now! EBB. Word will then automatically change your typing to <B> Hay! I can type in Bold now! </b>. You then cut and past this from Word into your DU posting window and Wala. You get
Hay! I can type in Bold now! .
The other feature is better for larger chunks. The "auto insert." And you already have some stuff pre-programmed. Go to Insert, then auto text. Below the "auto text" you just used, you will see "New" (dark) and a bunch of other menus such as "Attention", "closing", and "headers and footers." Select "closing" then selection "Best regards," and wala, Word types in Best regards, for you.
Now to take advantage of this for DU, like that handy scrolling marquee, do the following.
First type in your Word <marguee> (Just replace the < & > with brackets.)
Then high light what you have just typed.
Go to "Insert", then AutoText. You will now see the "New" option turned on. Select it.
You will then see a window pop up with a field showing <marguee>. Replace it with "Marguee"
You will then repeat the process with the closing tag. </marguee> (Just replace the < & > with brackets.)
Then select "new" from AutoText, and in the field, type in "Marguee end."
You have now just stored the marguee mark up in Word for DU, ready for use when you need it. To call it up, do the following.
Got to Insert, then AutoText, and then down to the "Normal" directory. You will see listed "Marguee" and "Marguee end" Just like before, when you select them, word will automatically replace them for you.
Now try something a little more fun, type in windows <img>
</img> Store it as "Bwahahaha" Then cut and past it into your next DU posting window, and see what you get. (Oh, and by the way, be sure to replace the < and > with brackets.)
