I remember it like it was yesterday.....
Standing on the verge of being an adult....

With the back of my sneakers rooted in the past...

Looking over the edge at a lifetime full of wonder...

All the possibilities that were to come...

It was magical summer...

The summer when Bruce Springsteen came to town... That summer when he was born to run...

And I had a third row seat in a small rejuvenated Movie House...
In downtown Cleveland...

My mother, bless her soul, asked me about four days before the concert if I liked this new Jewish singer, the one all her students were talking about...

It was Springsteen...

I said, Ma, he's a Catholic....

Well, it seems as if one of her students, Mom taught Home Ec three cities over, had just busted up with her boyfriend...

This gal had four seats to the sold out concert and asked my Mom if I would like to have two of them...

Now I had never met the girl, she knew from me because my mother always talked about the three of us to her students...

So that is how I ended up going to one of the best concerts I ever saw...

At my sisters house tonight, she served up some shrimp, fries, corn and the remastered version of Born To Run...

Another walk down memory lane...

Eight years after my first Springsteen concert, the two of us, my sister and I, went on an adventure....

I had hit rock bottom, sober for only about 2.5 months...

I had just gotten a job and was barely making ends meet...

This guy from work took a liking to me and he had a friend who knew this guy who had a restaurant at the Cleveland Colesium...

He promised me he could get tickets to the sold out Springsteen concert...

I had heard it all before... But this time, it seemed like the real deal...

Off we went to the coliseum to pick up our tickets at the door...

We parked, thinking that we could very well be stuck n the parking lot for three hours cause neither of us truly believed we would get in...

Did I mention it was my sisters 20th Birthday....

Well, much to our surprise and ever lasting delight, not only did we get in but we were in the tenth row on the floor...

We danced, hugged and wiped tears from our eyes when he sang Born to Run solo...

Needless to say, Bruce Springsteen has played a rather large part in my sepia tinted past...

9. The biggest surprise is you're awake.
It sounds like a quite evening with family but I know this evening must have tired you out.

How is your MIL doing this evening? Anything new?

8. Just one question:
If your past is sepia-colored (much like Kansas was for Dorothy), does that mean you're now in living color? And do you have a rose-colored future ahead of you?

(OK, I guess that was two questions. Sue me. :P)
