A WW2 500kg bomb was found during construction work. Looks like they'll have to blow it up in place :scared:

2. No, I am pretty far out
Getting home was a problem, though.

War-time bomb found in Berlin

Authorities evacuated buildings around Berlin's landmark Brandenburg Gate after finding an unexploded Second World War-era bomb nearby, police said.

It was not immediately clear where the bomb was found, but explosives experts were on their way to handle it.

Construction of a new US Embassy nearby is currently underway.

Sixty years after the end of the war, it is still relatively common to find bombs in the German capital, which was largely destroyed.

Do you find that to be true - that WWII bombs are somewhat common finds?

4. WW2 bombs are common, that's true
Bombs this big are unusual and in most cases the police is able to defuse them.

6. I remember reading that not only bombs
but shells and land mines from WWII are still found in many areas, particularly around the Oder River and Seelowe Heights, where German forces dug in for the last major Russian drive on Berlin

7. Yes, but not just there
Small munitions are pretty much everywhere. Even in Berlin, there are still occasional reports about hand grenades and such things getting found in distant backyards - in the open, not buried or something.

War munition experts are with all major fire brigades and police forces - and they get to practice their trade.
