I'm spending my time right now flipping between DU and the new story on Yahoo's news page about the overtime bill. These people are so much fun! (Not to mention, all the recommendations some of my posts seem to get are a great boost to my poor fragile liberal ego!!) :D
Like these, for example:
neo-con post...

After all, that would be the cheese that is overproduced to the point that we have warehouses FULL of it, because of those lovely government subsidies for dairy farmers! Now, if said subsidies were a LIBERAL plan, don't you think the present administration would be pissing all over itself trying to get those subsidies dropped from the budget?
Nah, instead they're going after totally superfluous programs like Social Security and Medicare. After all, the elderly can all get jobs at Wal-Mart as greeters! Yup, that's right, we'll put them to work for $6.50/hour for about 28 hours a week and then offer them an "insurance" package that costs over $100 per month! And for just $200 a month more we'll let them insure their spouses! Oh, and since they're going to croak soon anyway, we'll take out life insurance policies on them without their full knowledge and understanding and name ourselves as the sole beneficiaries!
Yeah, you've totally managed to humble me tonight. It's so obvious now that the neocon way is MUCH better!
Now, can you please pass the family jug of Pepto and a case of air-sickness bags?
or this one, which uses a quote directly from the news story...
Do the workers "have a choice"? by: progrocker69 (34/M/Las Vegas, NV) 11/22/03 01:26 am Msg: 910 of 932 3 recommendations Specter had also acknowledged that he was feeling boxed in by threats from congressional leaders to delete the language blocking the rules from the spending bill. That would force him to decide whether to oppose the overall spending measure — a vote that in effect would be a vote to shut down numerous federal agencies over the issue.
"Does anybody have a choice" but to vote for the spending bill, he said.

Well, let's see. If you were one of the people affected by this bill, and you were putting in long hours because you HAD to either because you needed the money or it was expected of you, then suddenly you were faced with the choice of financial chaos or losing a few government services for a while, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Farkin' NITWITS!
But then, it seems the republicans have managed to piss off a fair percentage of the labor force AND millions of seniors in just one week. Maybe come election time this law will be a GOOD thing, and then our new democratic president can repeal it!
