and
Well you know my name is Simon
And the things I draw come true
Oh they take me take me take me
Climbing over the garden wall with you.

I loved Captain Kangaroo so much. Those songs have just stayed with me through the years much like "I'm Just a Bill Sitting Here on Capital Hill" did.

Sorry for the multiple earworm post. I just couldn't resist. I can't think of Capt'n Kangaroo without thinking of that music I loved so much from the show.

6. Sorry, I was subject to the delights of the BBC and ITV as a kid.
I didn't grow up in the USA.

Only got to learn of Mister Rogers in the last few years (through repeats on UNC-TV/PBS).

I got to suffer Trumpton, Camberwick Green, Bagpuss, The Magic Roundabout, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Blue Peter, Play School, oh and at school we had schools TV!

Mark.

This was in the mid- to late-eighties; I think my mom enjoyed that I liked the show because it had been one of her favorites growing up, too.

I didn't watch Mr. Rogers much as a kid but remember seeing him on years later and thinking what a nice guy he seemed to be.

I loved that show as a kid. The Children's Museum in Indy had an exhibit of articles and puppets from the show. I took my 3 nieces who are 3,6, and 8 and I think I had more fun than they did. Kids don't watch either shows like they used to.

I can hardly remember it at all. I remember a puppet, a train, and a town. That's about it.

However, you can count that I was crying when I found that he had passed on. Even though I hardly remembered him, I still remembered the care free days of my youth before I became what I am now.

R.I.P

31. There was one time on Captain Kangaroo at the beginning
when the theme song was playing that Captain Kangaroo came and opened almost every one of the little doors on the front door of the Treasure House and poked his thread through each little open door smiling at me. Then he finally opened the big door of the Treasure House, which by now was covered with open little doors, and then the show really began.

I think Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit, Mr. Green Jeans, and Mr. Bainter the Painter were all in attendance that day. The first three were anyway. Definitely.

That was when I was about four. Captain Kangaroo never opened that many little doors again.

Ever.

PING PONG BALLS !!!!

and Tom Terrriffic (and Manfred the wonder dog).

...and mr green jeans and Mr. Moose - Mr. moose was the coolest. Bunny Rabbit always seemed a little sadistic.

Grandfather clock freaked me out the first time I saw him 'wake up' though, I think I had nightmares for a week. (and couldn't go near grandfather clocks for a decade).

...and magic drawing board.

..and dancing bear !!!

I loved the captain, my kids never took to him though. One watched sesame street constantly and the other loved mister rogers (though he'd deny that now).
