Karla Holmolka is free
Kinda scary really...

Homolka remains free after court rejects appeal bid
Last Updated Tue, 06 Dec 2005 16:59:08 EST
CBC News

Karla Homolka will remain free to live and work where she wants after a Quebec court on Tuesday rejected a Crown bid to reinstate restrictions on the convicted killer.

The Quebec Court of Appeal turned down a request from provincial government lawyers to seek leave to appeal last week's ruling that lifted 14 court-imposed restrictions on Homolka.

I may be against the death penalty, but I am 100% in favor of life imprisonment...

2. I'm surprised by this--
I thought she was found to have been responsible for the torture, rapes and death of those she said her husband killed.

What gives?

3. She negotiated a deal
and didn't fully disclose her participation in the crimes until after the prosecution had signed off on it. So she basically tricked them. They thought she was going to be a witness, not a participant.

14. Wow--
that's a shame.

I read a lot about her and the crimes when I learned about the film that was made about it. I was reading about the Canadian response to the film, which made me seek out more information about it. So sad what happened.

Interesting (and disturbing) that she wasn't the innocent victim of her husband as she claimed to be.

4. That seems so wrong.
She should not have been released in the first place.

8. Yay!
I read a book about her and her husband (what was the name of that thing?).

Kept me up at night. Especially having a daughter.

9. What was scary is they videotaped all the killings
rapes and abductions. They didn't feel ANY remorse...

15. This was the part I found to be particularly disturbing--
which isn't to say that the other crimes weren't. They were incredibly disturbing. But the idea that she helped in the torture and killing of her own sister. Wasn't the sister much younger?

:scared:

She just sounds so sick. She really should be in jail, or at the very least a mental facility of some sort. Only someone that is criminally insane would be capable of doind such malicious things (tricking them into giving her a deal before she told them her role in the crimes).

Come on--that's so obviously manipulative!!

Those poor families... :(

7. What do you wanna bet...
A disgusted, angry, completely unhinged parent decides to mete out their own brand of justice for Karla.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

10. Wouldn't surprise me
Although Canadians aren't like Americans. They understand killing Karla won't bring their kids back...
