don't hate the playa, hate the game
fer real though, this rampant nannyism proliferating in our culture MUST STOP.

people in general need to mind their own fucking business and stop trying to TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO DO ALL THE TIME. this puritan resurgence is sickening. do they even make rated R movies anymore?

makes me wanna raise up my pimp hand.

Maywood `Players Ball' stirs protest
Opponents say party glamorizes pimps

By Johnathon E. Briggs
Tribune staff reporter
Published December 4, 2005

Often sporting a lime-green plaid suit and clutching a diamond-studded chalice for sipping Moet, the self-proclaimed "king of the pimps," Archbishop Don Magic Juan, "spiritual adviser" to rapper Snoop Dogg, is known to hobnob with celebrities and is accustomed to red-carpet treatment.

But his anticipated arrival triggered protests Saturday night at a banquet hall in Maywood, where the glittering "mack daddy" was to celebrate his birthday and preside over the 30th annual "Players Ball Convention," where a trophy is given to "No. 1 International Pimp of the Year."

1. absolutely
people who bully and use physical violence to exploit runaway girls for their own profit, should be glorified, and anybody who uses their first amendment rights and energy to protest it should be pilloried and made ashamed that they are not at home watching Desperate Housewives like their betters.

2. it would be a lot easier to admonish pimps
but their game is so tight, and they dress oh so fly.

5. Celebrity today doesn't take actual talent, which is sad.
That's what bothers me. Not that we're glorifying pimps, which is of course retarded.

Look at what gets you a mag cover or a book deal or the big bucks today. It's disgusting. Actual talent or redeemable qualities aren't even required.

Shock and sex is pretty much it--and that's always been the case, but today people don't even try to class it up.

So I very much do hate the game and not the player.

6. and pimping isn't even the point
"pimping" is a posture in certain segments of the african american male community.

PLEASE NOTICE MY QUALIFIERS, i said "certain" not all.

cf. the common greeting "what's up pimpin'?" used mainly in the south.

for every 10 people who take the pimping stance, maybe one is a true mack.

so i don't even take that seriously.

what is irksome (maybe loathsome) are the tremendous numbers of "do gooders" and "nannies" crawling out of the woodwork trying to decide what is BEST for EVERYBODY.

as far as talent/celebrity what have you are concerned, we are currently experiencing what translates from the french as a "cultural toilet."

insofar as popular culture is concerned, most of the entertainment product produced by the music/tv/movie factories is just so much FUCKING SHIT. test-marketed into banality and homogeneity, targeted so precisely not to offend everyone, it simply makes me sick.

makes me wonder if every movie manufactured (they're not really "created") in the future will have some naughty animal (pig, dog, cat, etc.) that will do wily and naughty things much to the chagrin of the lead character.

7. What is the french phrase?
Cause that's neat.

I agree with you mostly, LOL, I got so sidetracked by the article that I didn't address your point.

It's not cool to admonish pimps, because most of the people appearing to be pimps are just posers? Wannabees? What we used to call "suburban Fonzies" or "Coca-Cola cowboys" or "trust-a-farians"?

Seems to me that's even a better reason to admonish pimps. Take some of the shine off of it, cause the posers to seek a better pose.
