Should I wear a tie?
I have to go to court in the morning to get a restraining order on my roommate. Actually, it is some sort of anti-stalking thing.. Would wearing a tie be over-kill? Should I see the judge in casual clothing?

1. Dress nicely, wear the tie. It's a sign of respect to the judge and the
business at hand. I hope things work out for you...and I hope the roomate is soon, an ex roomate. :hi:

4. Now I need to find my nice shoes..
A tie and these sneakers won't look good.

2. Never hurts
to show respect for the bench.

(I am suddenly reminded of the Andy Griffith line, "Now you've done it — you've gone and offended the dignity of my robes. Deputy, what's the fine for robe-offendin'?")

3. A tie would not be overkill
For courtrooms they are more than appropriate.

5. Pretty hard to over dress for court
I'd wear a green tux with top hat and cane.

7. Should I toss the judge in the chocolate river?
I hope someone got the joke.

10. I think I did
I'm just praying that you're referencing a certain film and book and not referring to something that Imodium would fix... :o

8. Definitely wear the tie.
And please treat the judge with the utmost respect, at least outwardly.

Definitely wear a tie
The attire worn by people who show up in court is awful. I went to testify against a man who hit my car and he showed up in jeans, a tshirt and flipflops. The judge was not amused.

11. Generally, if you find yourself asking if you should wear a tie, the
answer is yes. (Or, at least, the answer is, "it wouldn't hurt.")

A court is a place of business. I wore business clothing to my two court appearances (traffic and divorce), and it actually made me feel more at ease with everything than showing up in jeans would have.
