UNIDENTIFIED GROUNDED OBJECTS! What are these? Look here:
To Whom It May Concern: (See photo)

I found these objects at a yard sale and their owner begged me to take them for 10 cents. They are identical, and are well made of black rubber and silver colored chain materials. The chains are attached to the rubber by very substantial rivets.

They are nothing that I recognize, and no one I've show them to has been able to tell me, either.

Are they earrings? I don't think so. They measure 5 inches in width and approximately 6 1/2 inches in length.

Somebody's idea of "art"?

For use as something in the Goth tradition?

Sadism and masochism objects? (Be serious and keep it clean, now.)

Worth anything to anybody?

Seriously, I'd appreciate any guess or whatever you may know about them.

Of course, since I've posted this in the Lounge, I guess I'll get a couple of laughs for my 10 cents, correct?

I wouldn't call this a clue of any sort, just another stinking heap on the outsourcing of America...

Our phone died (RIP) and we went to four stores looking for a telephone from the USA. Forget it!

I did show them to one of the young cashiers at the Fantasy Video store (XXX rated stuff sold there), and she just blushed and said she didn't have a clue.

OK, I'll google S & M catalogs. So, it's come to this after more than fifty years of sexuality...

Warning: GRAPHIC SEXUALITY DON'T GO HERE (but still interesting...)

Remember, mods, this is a real project, not just for titillation.

34. Okay, so let's start a process of elimination:

There are two of them, so odds are they're a matched set.

They are made of durable material, so they are likely intended for re-use.

The rubber or plastic means it's not someting that will come in contact with any temperature high enough to melt it.

It appears the top loop is used to attach them to something else.

The design of the top loop suggests the items hang vertically.

Chains may pinch flesh, so probably not an item of apparel (unless, again, the S&M thing).

The chains suggest the thing they contact may change or vary somewhat in shape.

The smaller chain in the upper hole looks like it "gives" more.

Well, so far I think that you put an orange between the round parts and use it to carry the orange around.

Perhaps it was meant to prove that Newton was wrong, but Minute Maid was right! (Y'know, comparing apples to oranges experimentally...)

Oh, oh... my husband is playing with both of them. He's interested... wondering if it's some kind of a puzzle. Maybe they go together somehow and then you take them apart... somehow.

Wow!

The only thing can find that remotely looks like an S & M sort of toy for the breasts is the Japanese Clover Nipple Clamps. For the faint of heart, I urge you NOT to google these, unless you're curious.

I'm not posting any more, because these are NOT them...

55. Well, folks -- the mystery still remains. I tried them on shoes from
a seven-year-old child and a five-year-old child, and they didn't fit in any way.

I tried them on MY shoes (size 7 Women's) and that didn't do it. My husband weard an 8-B shoe (narrow Men's) and that was ridiculous.
SO, if they are "shoe chains" -- maybe they are for Munchkin feet from the Wizard of Oz.

Still no really winning answers. I can't tell you what the HELL they are, but I'll keep this page going as long as you have guesses.

Or are we at the end of this particular trail?

Your move.....

68. I think the more interesting question to ask is:
WHY did the yard sale person "beg" you to take them for 10cents each in the first place??

How the hell did S/HE end up with them? Surely /she must know....What, exactly, are they hiding? And why are they soooo eager to get rid of them that they have to BEG a potential customer? Hmmmmm.....think about it. Seriously.

And btw, imo, they definitely look related to some sort of S&M nipple cover thang.

...not that I know anything about that stuff, of course. :)

Detective Shine, at your service.
