Brokeback Mountain preview
I have been to 2 movies in the past week. Both times there was a preview of upcoming Brokeback Mountain.

I am going to describe the movie so SPOILER ALERT ---STOP READING IF YOU ARE GOING TO SEE THE MOVIE>

Anyway, BM is about 2 gay cowboys. They meet each other (and ostensibly straight) when they are both hired to tend some sheep in the hills out west. After one becomes injured due to a bear encounter, the other tends his wounds and eventually they become lovers on the mountain. After the job is over they agree to be silent about the whole thing and act like they were never lovers. They marry and try to stay away, but every so often they go "fishing" together up in the hills. Eventually their wives find out and so do their fellow townspeople. Then hijinks ensue.

SPOILER OVER

How do I know about the plot? -- because it was all there in the preview. I am not going to see this movie because I know how it ends. For a new work plot is important. I hate when too much of the plot of movies is given away during the preview. It ruins half the fun.

Book reviews also give away too much.

My point -- reviewers of America PLEASE keep important parts of the plot to yourself.

Anyone else hate previews/reviews that give away too much?

1. I love spoilers, so no.
I hate when the preview says too little, shows all the good parts, and then you sit through a film that sucks.

Or, if the trailer has you expecting one kind of film and it's another kind (i.e., Vanilla Sky).

3. I'm warning you
Watch the preview and you'll not want to see the movie.

4. In this case no. I read the whole story line in Newsweek magazine
It made this movie, with its delicate subject matter very appealing. Granted, it was a news story about the movie story.

I like watching the previews. Saw one to the Pink Panther with Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau yesterday. I so want to see that flick now.

Of the other previews I saw, I know now to save my time and money

5. I agree, mostly
I never saw The Sixth Sense for just that reason.

I heard that it had a great twist ending -- after watching the preview/trailer for it, I knew exactly what that twist was.

What's the point of making a nice twist ending and then spoiling it before the movie actually comes out???
