Need turkey help!
The pop-up timer just popped, but according to the cooking instructions, the turkey should need at least another 45 minutes - one hour.

Is it really done, or should I leave it in for the recommended cooking time? I don't want a dried out turkey, but I don't want an undercooked one either.

Help!

Do you have a meat thermometer? If so, check the beast for a temp of 180.
If the beast has reached 180, it's done.

Insert the probe to the middle of the thickest part of the breast, and don't let it touch the bone.

3. No meat thermometer.
I know that is the sure-fire way to check for doneness, but this dinner was a little impromptu, so I'm not completely prepared.

2. Is it browned? Do the legs wiggle easily?

I find the recommended times are always WAY too long. If you follow them you'll get a dried out bird. :(

On edit: assuming you don't have a thermometer. I'm cooking mine to 160.

5. It's brown, and the legs do wiggle, but I wouldn't say they're
real loose.

4. Cut into it - if the juices are clear, it's done!

6. Okay, I think I'll give it about ten more minutes, then we'll check
out the juice!
