No that doesn't make you pathetic. I've never had a serious relationship either. Just isn't my thing. I'm a pretty private person etc. I haven't gotten any in years either, I had a bad one night stand years ago and have been celibate since. It's better to be true to yourself and just go about love and life at your own pace. I have friends who have slept with literally over a 100 women. None of them know love. Not really. They have no sense of it. They all end up in serious relationships or married to some chick they knocked up. With women I wouldn't even touch, in all honesty.

Just keep doing your thing and being you. A man isn't really a man if he's always trying to exploit women and screw everything in sight. The only thing I would say to you in that department is just don't ever convince yourself that you aren't good enough for what you want. If you like someone, gather your inner strength and just go for her. I'm plenty guilty of not following my own advice. But when I do it usually works out well. The sex part of it will take care of itself. Find somebody you like and care for first. The rest will come later.

My Loved One of the last 13 years has lately been making some serious "I wanna marry you" noises, but so far, I'm standing my ground. I've never wanted to be married; I have serious problems with many of the concepts it embodies (ownership, state approval of sexual relations, etc) but if I lost my health insurance, I'd probably end up in a marriage of life-saving convenience to someone I love very, very much. Who wants to marry me anyway.

No, the biggest reason for me not getting married is not wanting to have to give up my many quirks, that no doubt would drive any wife insane, not wanting to deal with on a daily basis all the quirks a woman has, ("Does this dress make me look fat?") And I saw two of my sisters go through nasty divorces.
