Our outside cat attacked me today!
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 06:00 PM by hippywife
Since it is getting colder and as a treat once in awhile, we give the dogs a few hot dogs as a snack. I have been taking a half of one and breaking it up for the stray cat, too. Today I went out to give them some and while I was handing them out to the dogs, the cat jumped up and sunk his claws into my fingers trying to get to the hot dogs!

Then, later, I had to dice fresh jalepenos for tonight's dinner. Ouch!!

1. There must be a cat
conspiracy going on. They are banning against us to take over. One of my cats jump on me from above--knocked the cigarette I was holding (yea--I know--I shouldn't smoke)--and it fell into my blouse and burned me in three places (ouch!!!).

Cat owners beware. We may all be in danger.:scared:

2. He/She didn't bite you, I hope.
Cat bites are nasty, and usually get infected. Benadryl might help - or peroxide.

4. No, no bite.
Just a few claw punctures in my finger. They didn't even bleed very much. I was just really caught off guard. I guess he loves him some hot dogs!

3. Mine just follows me around screaming at me constantly.
He always has a sneer on his face when he's screaming.

6. Our indoor cat
goes through spells of that, too. It can be really aggravating trying to figure out if she wants something other than to bug the crap outta ya.

5. The cat sounds feral.
Has the cat been a stray for a long time? When they're strays, especially if they're ferals and have no real experience with humans, they're used to having to fight for their food. Often, there's not enough for every cats, so the one who fights and wins, eats. It might be a good idea to feed the cat first, then the dogs.

7. I don't think he is.
When he first showed up, he would just sit in the high weeds and sneak out once in awhile to steal some dog food. The dogs used to chase him away but now he isn't afraid of them and their one big happy family out there.

When the dogs stopped chasing him off, he started sitting on the steps with me and let me pet him. He seems very people oriented. He also runs in the house when you open the door at feeding times. I also noticed that he would get ticks on his fur but they wouldn't embed. I have a feeling he had been treated for ticks and fleas not too long before he showed up.

So I think he is just a lost or dumped off stray and not feral.

8. Interesting story.
I got him from someone who posted his picture on DU. His mother was feral but was taken in by these nice people from Orlando. He lived on the lanai with his family til he was 6 weeks and then I took him. He is an indoor cat now, but he acts pretty wild around the house.

He likes to climb up my leg, or hang off the back of my jeans screaming, even just after he's eaten.
