I'm hopelessly un-hip
I use proper punctuation, capitalization, spelling and grammar when chatting over instant-messenging.

Say the ways in which you're terminally un-hip.

3. I could care less which celebrity is gay, a scientologist, or * supporter.
Whether their acting/music/singing is good or bad (they're certainly doing better at their chosen field than I am in that field). Basically, I could care less about celebrities.

21. I feel the same way
It always amazes me that the groupies haven't figured out yet that the celebrities are there to entertain US.

I believe the only "reality TV" is C-SPAN (nothing sums up the real world more than the end of a speech when the audience is milling out of the banquet hall).

I've never tried pot, nor do I have the desire.

I prefer Rockports over Nikes.

My favorite "pump up the volume" moment is the instrumental break in Sinatra's "I've Got You Under My Skin."

I'm finding hip or cool, "with it," or "in," these days, to be a euphemism for self-consciously insecure copycat.

Don't feel bad, I'm 24 and I'm the same way.

I don't think I've listened to FM radio since 1995.

8. Thank you! I loathe this "text speak" or whatever it's called.
Even when I'm drunk (like, right now), I try so very hard to make sure my spelling and grammar are correct. I may not always succeed, but I give it a damn good shot. BTW, <heee see what I did there> I cringe when DUers point fingers at the FRers (or here in Canada, FDers) about their spelling, when I see so many more egregious examples right here. What was that old saying? "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

9. I'm an isolationist
in that I don't like the idea of trying to alert residents (if there are any) of other planets of our existence. It's not something I'm obsessed about, but I'm right now watching a program related to this called "Naked Science" on the National Geographic channel, and it's making me do this: .

We have enough problems without inviting more. As far as trying to communicate with ET goes, I suggest that we Earthlings turn off the lights and pretend no one's home.

How's that for un-hip?

11. Definitely not hip with clothing
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 09:53 PM by mvd
I'm very casual.

Only semi-hip with music. Some people consider me a bit of a snob because I love this group (Avril, Michelle Branch, Hope 7, Fefe Dobson, The Like, The Veronicas, The Faders, Anna Nalick, etc.) and am not a fan of this group (Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, boy bands (BSB & 'N Sync - I like The Click Five,) Lindsay Lohan (like some songs,) much of Britney, most of American Idol, etc.) But I'm open-minded enough to not be a full fledged music snob.

Also, I'm not a fan of the big music of the moment - hip-hop.

I'm not up with the acclaimed new TV shows and movies.

I'm much more liberal than the average. Seems it's hip to be "centrist" recently. I admit that this is an improvement!

messenging.
is not a word

Now, before I get my butt kicked for pointing that out like I did in another thread today (about use of "irregardless") let me issue this disclaimer:

It is not my intention to offend anyone in any way. If I have offered offense in any way, shape or form, or if my words can in any way be construed as "tactless" or antigonizing, I am truly sorry and hereby apologize for such offense.

sdditionally this post is meant only in a semi-humorous vein.

17. Yes, it is true
I am hopelessly UN-hip. As a matter of fact, I am probably un-hipper than the un-hippest DUer here. I am so unhip that I can't even think of a hip phrase to claim to not understand. The hippest word that I can think of is "groovy." In the event that anyone is forming an unhip club or coffee klatch (sp?) I think that I deserve an invitation at least, if not an officer's seat, unless, of course, asking might seem too hip.
