Cat lovers unite.

Don't use the Hartz flea spray on your cat. It could cause seizures, convulsions, or death. They've done this before. Years ago, my family tried Hartz flea and tick spray for dogs on our poodle. He almost died. Anyhow, it was on WSOC-TV Channel Nine 5:00 p.m. News tonight.

I used to be a dog/cat/ferret/pig/you name it groomer and one thing I learned right off the bat was no dipping cats. No dip is good for cats. It's better to treat the habitat (beds, house, yard, etc.) with something safe and let it dry before letting the pets near it, it it's a spray.

I know the link is old, but the story was on today and I figured it wouldn't hurt to spread this news to prevent any more heartache.

1. None of my guys have collars, not even of any kind.
If they're going to hang themselves, they're on their own.

:)

Love your sense of humor by the way.

Your post reminded me of a true story. My aunt once knew Florence King, a conservative author. Well, her cat actually jumped ooff of a balcony several stories up. The cat actually tried to commit suicide when he'd get mad at her. Seriously. Or at least my aunt is serious when she tells the story. I believe it is possibly true.

3. I believe it!
I'm hobbling around on a broken foot and when one of the Furry Gods get mad at me, they coyly get in the way of my crutches.

They know what they're doing.

lol

I use Advantage. Buy the dog pack, not the cat pack. Each of the dog tubes has 10 doses for a 6 lb cat. It's the same stuff in a different package. :eyes:

4. I treat the house, yard, car, and their beds.
That seems to keep them from having fleas. They never go outside, so I am guilty of giving the fleas to them the few times they ever do get them, I guess.

5. Just don't put a collar on yourself!
We live by the beach, so you'd think there would a flea thing here. But there isn't. I dose Their Highnesses about twice a year, if that.

I did once give them ladybugs -- which I use to control aphids on the roses. Got the dosage wrong, lol, we all had ladybugs all OVER.

7. Awwwwwww. He's so pretty.
Reminds me of my dearly departed Thommy. I wish he had lived past 12 years old.

10. My Sunday Girl was abandoned by her mother in a woodpile.
Her brother was too. It was so cold outside and my boss brought her and her brother inside. My boss didn't think Sunday Girl would make it because she was the weaker of the two. She gave her to me. Her brother didn't make it. Sunday Girl did and she has been the best friend I have ever had.

8. I must be a lousy mother....
I also live by the beach and have two feline owners.

They have never been outdoors, other than a second story lanai and they won't be. They're well tended animals but I don't treat them for this. I haven't seen a flea or indication of one in the 3 years they have had me. They get the "all clear" from the vet, should I be more concerned than I am?
