4. no your all wrong
it's for "Hey I'd like a new car", so next tailgater following you pull the emergency brake on them, no tail lights will light up and they will rear end you. I use to have a friend who did this in high school, he never was rearended but looking out the rear view mirror I saw someone eat a steering wheel once, sad.

6. I like to do that in the winter, when there is a lot of snow
That makes winter less of a drag for me. :)

7. i knew a girl who thought it was for stopping on ice.
she actually asked me and my friend to confirm that.

"The emergency brake is for stopping on snow and ice, right? if you start to slide and your normal brakes don't work you pull the emergency brakes and they work better?"

drivers ed in this country is really lacking.

Although to be fair, part of the problem is calling it the emergency brake. What kind of an emergency are you supposed to use it in? While pretty dumb, you can see the logic behind why she thought that.

After all, it's not an emergency brake. It's the parking brake. I guess you call it that because most cars in your country are automatic, and automatic gearboxes have a "park" mode which also engages a brake.

In the uk we refer to it as the "hand brake" which is quite clear since it is the one you operate with your hand. And it only has two purposes: keeping the car still while you're not in it, and turning around really fast (especially if you've stolen the car). :)

8. No No, you use it when you've worn out your regular brake shoes
Who says maintenance is necessary?
