3. Anything they made after 1990
Sounded like a tribute band playing aerosmith. And the ballads got old, REAL old, REAL fast.

Props to Bon Jovi, however, for not becoming the total parodies of themselves they could have become.

And of course - the Stones.

8. linguistic quibble
Why is sucking ass a bad thing? When done properly it can be quite enjoyable for all involved.

9. Have to disagree.
I didn't start to like them until a few years ago believe it or not. I'm kind of a youngin and never was into rock music or pop rock as they have become until a few years ago. Since then I've seen them 4 times in concert and they rocked each time.

12. This is why us "old-uns"
Cannot like them anymore. It simply won't do to have a band courting new fans instead of pleasing the people that made them popular in the first place.

/end sarcasm

But seriously, if an 18 year old in 1980 thinks your music is "deep", and an 18 year old in 2002 thinks your music is "deep", then I don't think you're doing a very good job of growing as a band. You're doing a good job of pretending you are an 18 year old while that age gets farther and farther away.

Aerosmith has done a fantastic job of releasing essentially the same album since 1990, four years apart, with a movie tie-in. Every time the album comes out, the people who loved them four years ago have moved on, and there's a whole batch of new kids who don't remember the previous album. It's a great business plan. For those of us alive when they released their first album, it's a bit of a let down.

13. I see your point(s).
Yes it is a good business plan and I guess everyone in the biz is out to get money but you're right, the need to pleae their long-time fans too, the fans that made them popular in the first place. As long as a song as a good beat and it's singable! I like to sing-then I think it's good! I'm not hard to please as far as music goes.
