5. leftist from st.charles county (of all *ucking places)
Being a missouri resident, I can attest to the miserable situation a progressive faces here. I'm a leftist and a jew, in st.charles county which is a republican hell hole. The state GOP is a mirror image of the DeLay run radicals in the US House. Good news is that i'm meeting governor Holden on friday morning, unfortunately his reelection possibilities are awful.

10. Jeff City here!
Not a native, I'm from California, but have lived here nine years. And Missouri is a beautiful state with good people, so don'tlet those nay-sayers earlier in thread fool you, folks.

Hey AngryLeftist, what do you think of McCaskill for governor? That would be cool, no? First female governor! The republican Matt Blunt is a self-serving, publicity-seeking, no-experience little twit--I know, I used to work for him at Sec State.

Dirk

11. Nay-sayers
Well, let's see... Someone intentionally ran me off the road near West Plains, someone else threw an object at my windshield near Cassville and cracked it, my camera, money and bicycle were stolen in separate incidents in Hayti and elsewhere, I was left stranded in Farmington, a car repair shop took me for all I had near Carthage, and I don't even want to go into to what happened to me in St. Louis:scared:

Unfortunatley, I'm living in Illinois now and have been for 14 years. God, I miss St. Louis! I miss seeing brick houses and the smell of the brewery while driving down I-55. I miss Dooley's burgers and toasted raviolis. And don't ask me "why don't you just move back?". I just can't. *sigh*

16. Missouree or Missourah?
I was raised in St. Joseph -- but left 19 years ago. Up in northern Missouri we call it Missouree not Missourah. My parents, family and a few old friends are still in St. Joe and Kansas City. They haven't elected a Democrat to Congress in decades! I think Jerry Litton was the last powerful Democrat that I can remember. Litton and his family were killed in plane crash the night he won the primary for the Senate in 1976. It's hell to be a Democrat in Missouri!

I make it back to Northwest Missouri every 2 years or so -- it has its own unique beauty and character. As a lefty-purist-gay-man, Missouri doesn't exactly appreciate my own unique -- ah -- perspective. Progressives are definitely in the minority in NW Missouri. :kick:
