I made a musical find that saved me $290.00!! And got a Christmas
gift that will surprise the hell out of my girlfriend. About a year ago I got into a conversation with my girlfriend about the music of the 80s. One bands we talked about was "The Boomtown Rats" led by Bob Geldof. She told me that one of her favorite albums when she was a kid was the "Fine Art of Surfacing." by the Rats but she had it on tape and that died years ago. So last year I headed on on the net to try and find it. I figured it was out of print so it would be a tough search. Well I found it rather quickly on CD only problem was that it was ranging from 300 to 400 dollars. Hell there was no way I was going to pay that for a CD. All other avenues proved fruitless. So today I felt like going to the last independent music store in our area to spend some hard earned cash on music. He stocks both new and used Cd's so while looking around his display cases where he keeps box sets and rare stuff, I got the sock of my life. Lo and behold in said case was a CD copy of "The Fine Art of Surfacing" priced at the princely sum of $10.99. I scooped it up in an instant and found out that it was a original pressing and instantly bought it. So I am a very happy man today because I have the surprise gift of the coming Christmas season for my girlfriend.

2. I love shit like this.....
Independent music stores are the best, if you are thorough and patient, you can usually find some gems. Congrats, I am sure your GF will love it.

4. Independents are the shit
I found that album, then I found this great CD of a radio interview of Robbie Robertson explaining what was behing his "Storyville" album and an intresting Japanese import with all the music that the Police and or Sting recorded for movies. I mean you can't find that at a Sam Goody.
