My son got a ticket for trespassing for walking across a school field
in our very own district! Did you know you could trespass on public property for which you pay massive property taxes? My husband went to court with him (had to take the day off from school and work) and the kid was slapped with a $50 fine. The courtroom was filled with other students from his high school who also got tickets for the same thing.

:grr: :grr: :grr:

This really makes me mad. Do you think I should call the newspaper and see if their interested in this story? We live in a blue collar neighborhood and I don't think they'd dare do this is in a rich district. Maybe I'm just mad because this is my baby we're talking about. What do you think?

1. Did he jump a fence? Was it after hours?

2. No fence jumping
but it was 9:00 PM on a Saturday night. There is a mall behind the school and they were seeing a movie. When it was over he and his friends took the short cut through the school to get home and all three got tickets. The cops apologized and said it was at the request of the Superintendent. I called the Superintendent and he said he never requested such a thing but stands behind the judgment of the cops. Ugh. I hope every last one of them stubs their toe and it hurts real bad for like five minutes.

3. Call the local newspaper!
Children have always played on school grounds when school is closed ...

If there are no signs posted regarding the area being closed at certain times - I don't believe your son did anything illegal ...

NO ONE can be on school grounds after dark, unless it';s for an official reason (game, play, etc.)
