1. I'd say Porcupine Tree as well!
Edited on Fri Oct-28-05 01:31 PM by EOO
Saw them twice this weekend.

Some of my other favorites:

Radiohead
Pink Floyd
Tool
King Crimson
Camel
Queensryche
In The Woods
Opeth
Swans
Neurosis
Dream Theater
Frank Zappa (if he counts, but I think Zappa is his own genre of music)

6. Pretty obscure group
But I've found some of their tunes on Limewire. Very progressive but hard to describe.

2. I'd have to agree with you as well.
I also adore all of Steven Wilson's side projects (particularly Bass Communion).

Others include all the usual suspects: Genesis, King Crimson, Spock's Beard, Dream Theater, Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Gentle Giant, Yes, Pink Floyd, PFM...I could go on.

14. Did Fripp do Soundscapes as an opener?
Been reading in his diaries that he's been doing that on the East coast but he up-loads the entries a few days/weeks after the date written.

and if he did, how was it?

16. No-he opened shows for them in the spring. Some awful band opened
But then again Fripp didn't thrill me either. I have a thing about wanted to be ENTERTAINED when I go see a live show. And both of these openers were far from entertaining.

I like Fripp, don't get me wrong, but this was just...meh.

15. I was at that show too! Freakin awesome!
I also went to the following show at the Anaheim Grove. Damn, Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands period. Hell, I think Deadwing is the best album of 2005.

17. I know I love Deadwing. But I hate the House of Blues
I hate having to stand for a whole show. I just hate that place. What was with the metal detectors when we went in there???

I saw them at the Grove in the spring - much better venue.
