Garage sale tomorrow at my house

It's my first ever. 20+ years of crap dragged out for public sale. I'm both mortified (that it's out there and it looks so pathetic - why the hell did we hang on to some of this shit??) and relieved that perhaps it will leave this property.

Any tips on making this successful? How large should I make the sign "All reasonable offers considered", and where do I put it? I don't want any of this shit to go back into the barn, house, kids' rooms etc.

I put in ads in two newspapers plus I have signs to place at the two nearest intersections tomorrow at 7 am (sale starts at 8 am).

Oh, and I also strung the phone cord outside and made sure the extension cord was ready for the laptop so I can celebrate Fitzmas.... Plus I've got the wine chillin' already to assuage post-sale irritation.

Any other suggestions?

1. You've got it pretty well covered

advertising-wise. Is it just for the one day? When you only have about half a day left and you're worried about getting rid of some real junk, throw it in a box marked "FREE". At least you won't have to drag it back inside again!

You'll be amazed how much $$$ you can make with a garage sale!

Put a free ad up on craigslist, I got a ton of business at my last garage sale that way.
