Any Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach DUer's want to get lunch

want to get lunch on Thursday? I know it's short notice and during the day:) I'm flying into Wilmington on Wed. night and staying in Wrightsville Beach until Friday morning with my date to a wedding in Greensboro (have to drive to greensboro on friday). But, my date has to work on Thursday until mid-afternoon. So, I was thinking that this might be a good chance to meet some DUers from a different region (i've only met people who have been at the Boston gatherings). There's the hook, anyone biting?

Fell in love with that area over the summer. OBX used to be a favorite vacation spot but Willmington is hands down better. Enjoy your lunch

5. oh i know

i was down there for my buddy's bachelor party a month ago. that's where i met my date for the wedding, we were at one of those incredible bars on top of a building, and i met her there. it works out wonderfully b/c i'm fairly broke and since i met her I don't have to fly a girl down from Boston, so it works out nicely. I'm planning on getting my pale skin out in the sun on thursday, i don't care if it's 50 degrees, it will feel better than the 30's we've been having here lately. her place is right on the beach too, so it should be a lot of fun.

she's promised to hang out with me on the beach all afternoon when she gets out of work (at 1:30). we'll probably get some seafood somewhere locally, and then who knows for the evening, we'll probably just play some trivial pursuit and go to bed early O8)

she's a really sweet girl too. I really like her, and I have to admit, I'm a huge sucker for southern accents:) The strange part of it all is that she's actually from the same town as my buddy's fiance (i'm best man), which is 4 hours away from where she lives now. And my buddy is from the same town in western new york as I am (and he met his fiance in college at NC state, I met the girl I'm taking to the wedding at a bar for my friend's bachelor party, she came with some friends for a bachelorette party, we didnt' find out til later that she was from the same town as the bride). It turns out that my date and the bride went to school together and they were two years apart but didn't really know each other, so she'll probably know more people at the wedding than I do:)

C'mon down--and you're right about the "eye candy" around here. Which, for single guys, is yet ANOTHER advantage of Caffe Phoenix--right by the "walking theatre" of Front street, with big expanses of windows!:eyes:

9. Where would you like to get together for lunch?

There are some really good places close to the beach--but there is also a super place in downtown Wilmington, right on Front Street--it's called Caffe Phoenix, and it's one of my favorties. Plus, it's where my wife and I had our wedding reception. Its food is more Northern Italian-style, and the staff are super-friendly and top-notch, service-wise.

Take a look at your schedule, and what you've got a taste for. I'd like to join you!:D

Plus, you've picked just about the BEST time of the year to come to Wilmington and Wrightville Beach!:7

14. wait a second...

is caffe phoenix a coffee joint or no? one of the cafe's down there had an atm that charged me 100 bucks, but didn't dispurse my money. And i didn't keep my receipt, so the end result was me getting boned out of 100 bucks:) As long as it's not that place, I'm cool with just about anywhere, I even get to borrow my date's car (she insisted upon it!). If you want, I can shoot you my cell # and email info on by PM, and we can figure it out from there. I'm assuming any time between 10 and 12:00 will work for me, I have to pick up my date from work in her own car sometime around 1:30 or 2:00:)
