Okay, I broke down - I bought Powerball tickets
I rarely play the lottery. In fact, I can't stand people who play the lottery. The worst offenders are the ones who tie up the line at the gas station picking and choosing small quantities of every scratch-off and number combination contests. Uhh, excuse me! I don't tie up the lines at the bingo hall buying gas and coffee, why the hell are you wasting my time making this your ad-hoc casino?

So, on my way out the door at work tonight, while mentioning that I was stopping at the local Quick Mart to grab some beer, I was asked if I was stopping to get Powerball numbers. I replied with my usual rant about the lottery being a tax on people who can't do math. Immediately, all my co-workers whip out their number slips. Well, maybe this one time.

So, I grab my brew, and of course the gal up front asks if I'm buying Powerball. I broke down and said, 'oh what the heck, gimme $5 worth'.

So here I am, waiting for the drawing. And when I win that $300 million or whatever, I certainly won't forget any of you. B-)

2. I wrote down five sets of numbers...
And I'm keeping my five bucks. Odds are a bazillion to one against me winning, so why not just keep my money.

3. I embarrassed myself at the check out counter
Apparently Washington State does not have Powerball! I guess I should know that. So, I bought a mega-millions lottery ticket instead.

I bought five dollars worth this morning. Five seems to be the magic number for first timers, eh?
