No, seriously, it's a strange tug of parental pride vs. our own hurt pride sometimes, isn't it?

My 8 1/2 year old son can just about beat me in arm wrestling. Jeez, and I'm not a weakling, either. Luckily my daughter (5) isn't there yet!

Nothing like late-60s/early 70s suburban Cleveland. Bubble hair galore. White shoes & belts (the "Full Cleveland" as Herb Caen used to call the look.) I have fond memories ... Hey, come to think of it, I was even on a bowling league as a child.

6. I went bowling on my 17th birthday

and got a 76. It was not a happy birthday.
Another time, at my cousin's reception there was a bowling alley down the hall from where the dance was. My fundy cousins do not dance or rock and roll so they went bowling and my sister sorta dragged me along too. To everyone's amazement I bowled a 196, just about my best of all time. The astonishing thing was that my eyes were all puffed up and bloodshot from allergies and lack of sleep. My siblings could not figure out how I could see to bowl that well.

I think between the 6 of us we had about a 72 average.

It was fun however.
