2. I was raised in a six kid one parent family.
I hate sloppy joes for the same reason I loath baloney and Wonder bread sandwiches; I've had way too many of them growing up.

I almost would eat lunch with Jorge Bush first before having any such sandwich. Emphasis on the almost, mind you.

BTW, what the heck is a 'manwich?'

28. Interesting, none the less,
I am not familiar with it. I recall a ditty, "How do you handle a hungry man? The man handler." But not that stuff.

I killed my television in 1989 and have not had one in my place since then. I've sampled TV when house sitting, but it has only grown way worse.

I made the right choice. I mean, I can't even tolerate listening to background music or have it plugged into my ears, so imagine how "LAlalalalala...I can't hear or see you" I get around advertising.

I loathe it.

7. Not Manwiches, no.
My mother always made what we called barbecues in a double boiler or crock pot using ground beef, onion, ketchup, mustard, chili powder, salt and pepper.

We never did call them Sloppy Joes.

The "tourista" Sloppy Joes is up the street/around the corner. That's where you have to go for the t-shirt with the Hemingway picture.

According to various friends, it's one thing I can make pretty well. Mine have ground beef, onions, green peppers, ketchup, and mustard all simmered for about an hour.

The same people who love my sloppy joes also tell me that Manwich is crap, but I'm not sure what I'm doing differently.

38. That's funny.
I like mine with Manwhich, and coleslaw. Yum. I used to work at this company and on Thursday's we'd go down to the beach a little north of Santa Monica to play volleyball. After a while someone got the idea that we should take turns bringing sloppy joes. One of the guys would get real mad and said we really didn't want to play, just eat sloppy joes. He was right. The food was better than his attitude so we stopped going. Let them eat beef jerky.

but we used to have this little fast food place when I was growing up called "Tastee Treet", and they served a sloppy joe style burger, but it wasn't all tomatoey and saucey, just loose and so damn good

and the very best soft serve icecream EVER>

I think they were a chain in Iowa and Nebraska, we had one in Kentucky and all the little baggies the food came in had little maps with arrows drawn from Russellville KY to Iowa and Nebraska.

Anybody ever heard of these? Wish I could come even close to duplicating them.

55. Not any around here either....
But I've eaten at them before. In Galena and someplace in Missouri.

Hmmmm....perhaps I should open a franchise?

59. They used to serve them in grade school
I never cared for them. Avoided them in adult life.

Though they also served pizza and green beans. The combined aroma wasn't pleasant. For years, I was off pizza.

Looking back, I shouldn't complain. It was a pretty good feed for a quarter.
