What famous tricky guitar riffs/hooks can you play?
My limited reportoire of tricky guitar licks:

The Beatles: "Day Tripper", "I Feel Fine", "Norweigen Wood", the opening of "Blackbird"

REM: "Driver 8" (very tricky one), "The One I Love" (which is sort of a variation on "Driver 8"0, "Pretty Persuasion"

The La's: "There She Goes Again" (a recent acquistion in my arsenal)

America: "Ventura Highway"

1. I mostly write my own these days, but....
off the top of my head "Over the Hills and Faraway" (Zeppelin) and "Dance of the Maya" by the Mahavishnu Orchestra are fun. Oh and Hocus Pocus by Focus is fun, especially when you play the yodelling part on guitar.

Music ended with the Seventies, don't ya know? (just joshin')

20. There's a tab online. I didn't think it was right at first...
so I picked it out on my own, and then of course after all that it turned out to be right after all. I don't think the yodelling part was included though. i could tab ya that part if you want it.

4. Redemption Song opening riff is one of my crowd pleasers.
(to the crowd in my head);) Famous, but not particularly tricky.

let's see. . . Buckingham Green by Ween (though that's not famous nor tricky). But sweet, oh so sweet and I can make it ring.

The Day I Tried to Live by Soundgarden. Kind of tricky, definitely a sweet hook. Not particularly famous.

Smaller and Smaller by Faith No More. Not famous, but is probably my favorite riff of all time.

Then i just straight up noodle psuedo-blues incoherence.

6. Mmmm... 'Stairway'
the hook in Fogerty's "Centerfield"... the lead riff in Deep Purple's "Lazy"...

Man, it's hard to think of this stuff. Does "Dueling Banjos" count?

Seems easier to name the ones I can't do that I wish I could. :grr:

8. I created a riff based on the "Centerfield" riff
It's the intro to a song I hope will become the "La Bamba" of the 21st century..

15. Sorry, that was kinda vague
I meant taking a riff from "Centerfield" to be the next "La Bamba" is pretty karmic, since the "Centerfield" riff sounds like it came from "La Bamba."

14. Walk Don't Run and Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love
The first riff, by the Ventures is not tricky but very fun to play. The second one is a bit tricky, but if you take you time, and practice it at a slower tempo you should get it.

Also, Alone Again by Dokken is a beautiful riff and also the trickiest of the ones I mention here.

Personally, I know the first at regular speed. I can play the second at half speed, and I have attempted the third a couple times, but put it on the back-burner.

cheers guys.
