1. You think Tarkenton can still throw a football?
Hell, I haven't even seen the guy in an infomercial for a while. Is he still around?

I heard that Duante Culpepper weighs more than Alan Page did. I think those little guys would get eaten in this day of BGH and steroids.

14. the attitude
is partly due to the size and the salary. It's about power and thinking you are a god.

...Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants and others, which demonstrate that you can have big players, big salaries, and the right attitude....

39. Page played at 220-225 lbs
Safetys today are heavier than Page was. But Page had phenomenal speed and moves. The biggest guy on the Purple People Eaters line was Carl Eller at about 6'5" and The Moose only weighed 265. Football players are so much bigger now than 30 years ago that it's scary.

Culpepper goes about the same height/weight as Eller. Tark was a little guy - just under six feet and about 190.

4. Won't happen until...
Players who exhibit this type of despicable behavior are truly punished, as are those coaches and owners who enable it. If these players did what is alleged (and my understadning is that it is a slam dunk), they ought to be immedietely released. And Mike Tice, who should have been retired based on his performance, should follow.

Keeping them on just helps tarnish thes rest of the team, the state, and the league

Ziggy has an opportunity here to be a stand up guy...he needs to take advantage of it!!!

Jeez...can you imagine Bud Grant putting up with this?!!!

8. He could be a bad ass...
I remember he wouldn't let the players have a hand warmer on the sidelines during those freezing games at the Met. I remember Fran Tarkenton hugging Bud on the sidelines after winning the NFC championship one year...and the news guys all joked he did it to slip his hands in Bud's coat pockets to get warm!!!

Man those were the days!!!

7. You know, I remember going to their games back then, and watching them...
...play. We'd get to the games very early. We'd watch them come to the stadiums, and get off the buses. Everyone of them was wearing a suit, and carrying a briefcase. Now, with my pony-tail and earring, I would be the last to say everyone should look like a robo-banker. But you know what, they seemed to exude a sense of purpose. They were professionals.

23. It is dreadful
If team members want to have wild sex orgies, rent a suite at a hotel, so that the employees of the hotel are not subjected to seeing it.

I feel bad for the party boat company and its employees who had to put up with that.

Tice was asked if he had lost control of the team. He ummed and erred, and did not really answer the question. He never had control of the team in the first place.

There needs to be an ass-kicker for a head coach like Grant or Ditka. This is enough and hopefully the nail in Mikey's coffin.

25. Ditka? Heck. They need Vince Lombardi!
I talked to a Packer (forgot his name now) a couple decades ago about how much Vince Lombardi would yell at players who missed curfew, much less pulled a stunt like what the Vikings did on that boat and in that woman's yard.

This incident has enraged a LOT of Minnesotans.

What a bunch of criminal pigs.

I heard Tark giving a radio intereview during the game two weeks ago. He still referred to the Vikings as "we." These pigs have defiled Minnesota, the Vikings, Tark and Grant and Kramer and all those good players and people who wore the purple.

I told my husband that Grant would have kicked some asses and he said "That was a different era". I call bullshit. Whores have been around for thousands of years. Men have been buying whores for thousands of years. It's only in times like these, with the guidance of Mike Tice, that the whores are brought out in public, in front of normal people, to do their business. Sickening.

And last night Tice stated that this whole thing was a conspiracy to "hang him out to dry". I saw him say it. He actually thinks that someone is making him lose games, lose control of his team, in order to hang him out to dry. When I saw him say that...I knew he would be fired. Probably not before this week's game...but he WILL be fired.

41. In the days of Bud Grant, coaches had more control
and the players made a lot less money. It's pretty hard for a coach to intimidate a guy who makes $6 million a year. You can't pay that kind of cash for a player and stand him on the sidelines. In Bud's day players had off-season jobs to make ends meet. Times have changed and coaches don't have near as much control of players away from the game. And you can't cut 10 or 15 guys in the middle of the season and put out a scrub team. I suspect the NFL brass would very much frown on that.

Players on the mid-90s Cowboys did the same kind of crap, only behind closed doors. I am NOT excusing the imbecilic and classless behavior of the Viking players, but to think that this kind of thing doesn't go on elsewhere is naive.

Tice is a dead man walking. Zygi will clean house at the end of the year and you will see a whole new coaching staff and a substantial turnover in personnel. Unlike McCombs, Wilf will bite the bullet and spend the cash.
