Questions on "Lost" for a newbie - please help

Ok, I still can't get my hands on Disc #6 for the first season of "Lost" plus I've missed a few episodes from the beginning of the season so I'm hoping that I can get some help filling in the rest.

I did find a website with the transcripts for all the lost episodes but I had enough time this morning to do a quick read through all of them. So I could very well have missed something that was covered in the show

So if you have the answers (or know that the answers haven't been revealed yet) please let me know

1. So Jack went through with the marriage - do we know what happened and was that marriage held in Australia (and where was Jack's mother)
   
2. What caused Locke's paralysis?
   
3. Does Sun & Jin makeup before he takes off on the raft?
   
4. The Hatch - I noticed that the Lottery numbers that Hurley used were the same as the combo used in the Hatch - do we find out what happens when the numbers aren't put in the computers on time
   
5. Was anyone else from the plane found other than Ana Lucia
   
6. I read where Charlie takes one of the Virgin Mary's from the drug smuggler plane Boone & Locke found. Is he back on the junk again?
   
7. The french woman lead them to another boat that wrecked (for the dynamite). How long ago did that boat wreck on the island and other than dynamyte was there anything else of use from the boat

I personally think some of the others are off the flight-the major big guy who asked Ana Lucia about what went on in the pit-I think he's the guy who went to the loo right before the plane broke up. His wife kept insisting he was still alive in the first episode(s). I think people in the back end of the plane are walking around like painted zombies.

Not yet-I don't think so.

I don't know how many were on there, but I think it was a real boat.

1. We don't know what happened and I don't think the marriage was in Australia.

3. Can't remember but I am about 80% sure the answer is NO.

4. That is yet to be seen. My guess is nothing will happen if the numbers are not put in time...

5. I think 'the others' she is with now are also survivors from the crash.

6. Not yet.

7. It was an old ship... 19th century or even earlier. And it was standing in the middle of the island. Can you imagine? They didn't find anything useful there except for the dynamite.

8. It was a regular boat and there were 3 men and 1 women on it.

9. Unknown. Ethan's background is a mystery.

12. The toy plane was a present from (or did belong to) her boyfriend from her high school years. He was a doctor and she met him again when she visited her mother in the hospital. He was trying to help her escape but instead he got shot (I think) and died... Very sad indeed...

Don't know. He knows what is in there. He gave it to Claire, but I don't know what his intentions are.

6. Lots of unanswered questions but I think the black woman shows back up

tonight. The preview last week showed her (she was sitting on the beach saying her husband wasn't dead-featured on the season1 recap a few weeks ago). Lynne asked a lot of the important questions and some that haven't been answered yet....hell really NOTHING has been answered just more questions raised.

Oh the boat was not hand made it but it was not for open ocean either (as Sawyer pointed out). They said "Why are you out so far?" OUT so far? wouldn't you expect them to ask about being a thousand miles from land????? They must be on the island too huh?

I have heard/read that before we will see. I still think that the plane was blown on purpose and the whole thing was blamed on Sayid and used for political reasons and that they just happened to end up on an island where things are sent to be forgotten.

What I find interesting is that there are so many survivors from the crash. I think they were 43 in the beginning. Add 'the others' to that number and we have 50 survivors.

What are the odds of that happening? I mean this is not emergency landing gone wrong... It's a fucking plane crash.

And the wreckage... When we see a plane crash in the news it doesn't look like the one in Lost. In most of the cases there is not much left of the plane. But here we see the survivors recovering many useful items from the plane. They even ate plane meals in the first couple of days. I mean, come on - it looked unreal...

14. Talk about a conspiracy - guess what I did for my 3 day weekend

glued to the boob tube watching Desparate Housewives and Lost.

I found a site that has transcripts to TV shows so I had seen the entire first season of DH and then read the transcript for the 2 shows I missed from season #2. It's real easy to get caught up on DH since it's trampy soap opera material.

But Lost is like a real thinking person's show where each episode kept giving me more questions to ask with no answers. And you do get more information from watching the shows instead of reading the transcripts so I'm hurting from not seeing disc #6 yet from season #1. So who knows, watching tonight will probably just add more questions to the ones that I have

Thank goodness I'm spending the 8 o'clock hour watching pure trivial trash like "America's Next Top Model"

I mean, they're not exactly getting the brightest crop of women on this show and nothing is more entertaining then to force a group of diva-wannabes into a house and force them to live together.

Last week was really good - there was a showdown between Tyra Banks and some ex-beauty queen who had all her hair chopped off in the makeover. The ex-beauty queen (from TX) was so upset because she thought her hair was her best feature and then Tyra decides to cut it even shorter (like Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby). The girl actually decided to quit the show and her chance of being a model rather than have more of her hair chopped off!

Oh come on now, it's only television. Joyce's, Ulysses, now that would be a real "thinking person's" show...

I've watched the first two episodes this year and it's been somewhat entertaining. (I'd been filled in on everything else by co-workers.) However, so far, I've not seen anything especially earth shaking. I liked Twin Peaks a lot, too, for awhile, and I think you could aguably say it was a bit more "cerebral" than Lost. Maybe Lost will get there...

Locke's paralysis: Locke donated a kidney to his birth father(long story but the father was never apart of his life and dumped him immediately after getting the kidney). We are lead to believe in the eppie about Locke from season 1 that the paralysis is a direct result of the surgery. He was fine before it and found out that he was paralyzed after the surgery.
That's what I would think.

Charlie is comtemplating it. It's something that seems to be in the back of his mind.
The boat was a regular boat. They discussed that on the last eppie.
We don't know exactly how Ethan was connected. All we do know is that he was not on the plane. He must have come from the island somewhere-maybe the second person in the hatch?
The plane was apart of a time capsule that Kate and the man she loved buried.

Sun and Jin makeup. Although they appeared pretty stereotypical at first (submissive wife/ controlling husband), they're relationship has really developed.

Not sure what happens or that anything happens if the numbers aren't put into the machine. Could be an experiment to see whether people will input the numbers without knowing why.

I think that the strong-looking guy with her is Rose's husband, who was also on the flight.

Charlie has one of the statues, but hasn't used it yet.

I think that the people that constructed the island put the boat there. If it's a real boat, it had to have wrecked a long time ago.

It looked like a real boat. There were probably half a dozen people are so.

I think Ethan was one of the "others," who seem to have a fascination with kids. Or, in the alternative, Ethan was like Desmond and wanted the kid to save him from whatever sickness is out there.

Claire hasn't really had any lines this season.

The Others kidnapped Walt. Not sure why. My feeling is that the "Others" are either lab experiments or are the instruments of the Dharma initiative, who police the island and keep the experiments in line. Maybe they take kids off the island.

The toy airplane belonged to a boyfriend that tried to help Kate escape.

I don't think it was held in Australia. Jack's father left for Australia after the incident at the hospital. Jack's mother was presumably back home in the United States (unless you mean during Jack's wedding, then I'm not sure if she was at the wedding or not.).

That has yet to be revealed.

Yes, Sun even made Jin a phonetic Korean-to-English book of simple words and phrases so he could comunicate with Mike, Sawyer and Walt.

That has yet to be revealed.

My guess would be that the people who have Mike, Sawyer and Jin right now are the other survivors, and not "The Others" (and as such, they do not have Walt). That's just speculation on my part though.

It was a slave boat, so there were skeletons of shackled slaves on there, and presumably it arrived there back when slave ships were runnin (mid-to-late 19th century? Not sure on the history/timeline there).

The boat was a regular manufactured boat, though not one that was meant for open-sea travel (Sawyer mentioned that in the last episode, pointing out that they were obviously from the island) and there were 3, maybe 4 people on the other boat.

She wanted the baby to use as a trade-off for her own child. Not sure as to Ethan's connection, though it is known that The Others also wanted a child (though it was Walt they wanted apparently) and it's assumed that Ethan was one of The Others (since he wasn't listed on the flight manifest) but it's unclear why he kidnapped Claire.

No. She does regain some of her memory (the imaginary peanutbutter thing with Charlie, for example) but nothing relating to her kidnapping.

Pretty much, yeah. We assume it was The Others, but we don't know who the others are.

I think it was just really sentimental to her. Belonged to "the man she loved". Not sure of any significance beyond that htough.
