Bomb-sniffing dogs vindicated

HEBRON, Ky. (AP) — Two bomb-sniffing dogs that prompted the evacuation of a busy terminal at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport did, indeed, smell material that can be used to make explosives, officials said.

Delta Airlines' Terminal 3 was shut down briefly on Tuesday after the dogs reacted positively to a black bag left at a curbside check-in area.

The bag, which was blown up by a bomb squad, contained a computer and some newspapers, officials said.

But airport officials said Thursday they learned the satchel was owned by a fertilizer salesman who used it to carry samples.
