Which rapper is the best actor?
My vote goes to Mos Def. I haven't seen him in much, but he was great in The Woodsman.

3. Ice Cube is very likeable and easy to connect with
even for this white boy.

"Are we there yet?" -not Oscar material but you could feel the rage from his character even if you don't really have anything in common with him (bling bling, ride, etc.)

4. Mos Def, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah (especially in Chicago),
and I thought Eminem did a good job in 8 Mile!

5. My intense dislike for Eminem has prevented me from seeing 8 Mile
But considering he basically played himself, I'm not surprised that he did a good job, haha.

15. I think he is talented, but I hate most of
his hate driven lyrics. He seems to be growing up some. At least I hope.

19. He might be talented, but he's ridiculously overrated...
And like you said, the homophobic/misogynistic lyrics don't win him many points wit me either.

13. I never thought I would see those words together.
I think he is freaking awful (unless he has gotten better in the last 3 years) in that show. He's worse than Chuck Norris in "Walker, Texas Ranger"

21. I guess it depends on your taste
I think hes good and yeah I do think hes gotten better over the years of the show. There was an episode last season where he got shot and his son that he is estranged from came to visit him in the hospital. It was pretty well acted all around I thought.

I'll go with the benefit of a doubt and trust that he has gotten better.

If only because every one else on that show is good. Its really worth watching. And I gotta say no disrespect meant to anybody, but Mariska Hargitay is hot. :D

9. Gotta go with Tupac
He wasn't that great in "Juice" (his first film, I believe), but he got much better later, as in "Above the Rim" and "Gang Related."

Cube gets a special mention just for playing Doughboy in "Boyz in tha Hood," but he's pissed it away with the new "Disney Cube" image.

Latifah is quite a good actress as well.

There have been several memorable bit roles by rappers, including Dr. Dre as Black Sam in "Set it Off" and Xzibit in Cube's awful "XXX: State of the Union."

Though I will admit that I love the Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff days. (And Jeff remains one of the greatest DJs of all time.)

23. That show was alright
Will Smith should of given up after that show though. I sort of liked Independence Day, but that is the only movie that he did that I liked at all. The first Men In Black movie was the last movie he did that I saw.

I actually boycott his movies now. I meet Ru Paul a few years ago and she/he was talk about her/his experience when she/he was on Fresh Prince. Ru was insulted and in general treated with great disrespect despite the fact that she/he was a guest on the show. Ever since I have just labeled Will Smith and homophobic actor that is notorious for overacting.

25. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Mos Def was one of the few actors in that movie that I thought did a good job. Him and the guy that played Arthur.

32. Sure, the plot is a true story so there's no spoiling it really!
It's the true story of the very first openheart surgery done by Dr. Blalock at John's Hopkins University, but told from the perspective of his surgical assistant... his black assistant, who in the 30's really wasn't permitted to attend medical school but he had the skilled hands of a surgeon. Dr. Blalock looked passed the color barrier to recognize how skilled his assitant Vivien - played by Mos Def - really was. It was his assistant who invented the shunt used even still today in open heart surgery, not Dr. Blalock who really got all the credit for it.

It was FANTASTIC! but if you are an animal lover be sure to look away on the scenes with the lab dogs, it can get kinda icky.

I highly recommend this movie!

22. This is my biggest pet peeve--prepare for the rant, LOL.
I *despise* acting rappers/singers because they steal parts from *actors* . Particularly black rappers. It is insulting that the movie industry primarily casts black folks who are highly successful in another field, as a way of hedging bets. The number of working black actors in the film industry is primarily reflective of the working black music people in movies.

Disgusting. Makes me furious.
