Today's dinner menu is....
a potatoes and cabbage au gratin, lamb chops, little tiny ones, grilled quickly; and deep fried apple rings, a swedish recipe.

The potatoes and cabbage are an attempt to somewhat replicate a fantastic one I had recently; it's similiar, but not quite as finely chopped and mixed as the original. The cabbage has been braised over in butter and then simmered in beef stock, it tastes fantastic, and is layered with small sliced potatoes with a bechemal sauce. I would have liked to put some swiss cheese for more punch, didn't have any.

The lamb chops are completely traditional. I can never look a baby lamb in the face, they taste too delicious.

The apple rings? Well, I finally found a LITTLE ITTY BITTY deep fryer, and for lunch whipped up a batch of fried brie cheese, so, I'm inspired.

Who else is cooking what?

1. No cooking tonight
The unification day weekend has left us without much left food-wise. Arab take-out it'll be. :hi:

2. Bleh-- meatloaf, curly fries and broccoli w/cheese sauce.
I let my 7 y.o. choose the dinner menu on Mondays. Could be worse-- last week it was pizza, cheesy popovers and broccoli with cheese. Seriously. I thought we'd all need metamucil.

5. At our house it's...
...kale. Sauted some onion and garlic in olive oil, added the chopped kale, teaspoon of sugar, table spoon of cider vinegar, hot sauce, salt and pepper, and about 1/2 cup of chicken stock. Turn down as low as possible and let cook for as long as you can.

Peppery Pot of Peas of Plenty-Start with about a cup each of butter beans, baby Lima's, purple hulled peas, crowder peas, and black eyed peas. Saute some onion and garlic, add the peas, a couple of cups of chicken stock, salt and pepper, and a heaping tablespoon of asian chili sauce.

White barbecue sauce grilled chicken. I found a recipe for this sauce in Southern Living and thought I'd give it a try. It's kind of odd, but... It's basically mayo, water, white wine vinegar, and salt and pepper. Going to grill the chicken and finish it off with the sauce on the grill.

And finally, my son's favorite. Uncle Ben's Wild Rice.
