I have question about the environment, scientist, and big business...

Big businesses/corporations have a lot to gain by claiming that environmental problems we hear about in the news media are blown out of proportion and (in some cases) non-existant. They will have serious problems if more people realize that the environment is being destroyed and we need to fix it.
But let us assume for the moment that big business is right...

What do SCIENTISTS have to gain by falsely claiming that the environment is rapidly deteriorating?
