So my wingnut boss wanted to know why I was doing the happy dance
At work today. "What's Rush talking about today?" I yelled.

"I don't have it on," he said.

"Tom Delay was indicted!" I cried, returning to the happy dance. This took a moment to sink in.

"For what?" he asked. "Selling furniture?" The reference went over my head.

"No, he's a bug-man. You know, cockroaches, cha-cha-cha."

"So he wasn't selling furniture out of the capitol? Like Rostenkowski?" He was trying to be smug.

"How many years ago was that?" I asked, already laughing at this pathetic attempt. "I guess you have to go back pretty far to find a corrupt democrat! Is that all you got?"

"Well, I guess a more recent one would be that fellow that got impeached, what was his name again?"

"Oh, you mean that guy who had a 90% approval rating the day he was impeached! That guy who, the day they impeached him, had about triple the approval of the current squatter? That guy? Hahahahaha!"

He left with his tail between his legs, muttering how he doesn't really like Tom Delay, the guy looks mean, etcetera, etcetera.

Later, he was feeling ill, possibly due to a statin drug he's been taking. I lectured him about the FDA last week, and he seemed interested at the time. As he was moaning about how horrible he feels, I told him he really shouldn't trust the FDA and the drugs they've approved in the last few years. He put his hand to his head and I couldn't resist: "Next time, vote democratic!"

Oh, it was wicked, wicked, fun! He says I'll be sorry I gloated. I don't think so!

1. Wow -- you have a great relationship with your boss to be able...
to raz him like that. Seems very clear to me that you won that round! :)

3. I was pushing my luck a little
The main reason we can work together is that we rarely venture beyond trading generic insults to liberals and conservatives. It's bad form for me to gloat so openly and start nailing him with facts. Anyone who listens to Rush is armed with blanks in any real argument. There will be "blowback," as they say.

5. It was deeply satisfying
There was about a year's worth of pent-up anger inside me. I needed today's good news in the worst way.
