We have what was your first computer - now, what was your first mainframe?
Mine was the PDP-11, soon replaced with the VAX 11/780.

And then that was it - soon after, using mainframes died, because PC networking came into the fold.

1. Technically, those are all "minis"
The PDP-11 is/was considered a minicomputer.

If you're talking big iron, you're talking the IBM System 360:



Of course, that was miniscule when compared to the Enterprise System/9000:


Now THAT's a mainframe

4. I think you are correct
compared to the one-space blade servers of today, the "minis" are behemoths! :hi:

And strangely, they usually run the same Unix (or Unix-like) OS. Hmm...
