Anyone ever tried the program "Konfabulator?" Lots of cool Widgets

I just found this FREE program from YaHoo! and I have to tell you, this is one very cool little program. Here's a link to the info page:

What Is Konfabulator?

Konfabulator is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather.

What sets Konfabulator apart from other scripting applications is that it takes full advantage of today's advanced graphics. This allows Widgets to blend fluidly into your desktop without the constraints of traditional window borders. Toss in some sliding and fading, and these little guys are right at home in Windows XP and Mac OS X.

The format for these Widgets is completely open and easy to learn so creating your own Widgets is an extremely easy task.

For the "skinning" crowd, Konfabulator is a dream come true. You can easily change the look, feel, layout, even functionality of a Widget so that it matches your lifestyle, your desktop, or the pants or skirt you have on that day.

They have little Java apps for things like "Area Lowest price for Gasoline," Digital Clocks, Desktop Weather, and even a little "Take your Pill reminder"

You just need to check this little program out, I'm very impressed.

1. OSX has a similar thing built-in called Dashboard.

I use it all the time.

3. Hate to say it, but I like Konfab much better (here's my desktop!)

Unlike Dashboard, Konfab widgets are designed to remain on your actual desktop.

(Yes, you CAN place Dashboard widgets on your desktop but they stay ON TOP which irritates me).

Here's my desktop with a few neat widgets - clock, calendar, weather, photo frame, trashcan and stock ticker...

4. I don't know much about OS X, but I think these are sort of add-on's

for Dashboard, or they might be sort of a replacement for Dashboard. Like I said, I don't know enough about it to say for sure.

Most of these Widgets do have a very OS X look to them.

6. I think so, I run Spy Sweeper, Norton Anti-Virus, AdSubtract and...

...Norton Internet Security, and none of them found anything bad or hidden in the program.

Best to look at the "comments" section before downloading a Widget. If the thing is buggy or just a waste of disk space, someone will have commented on it there.
