I don't have a separate DU ID. But I was thinking about creating a new sign on named "Dances with Boxturtles", if only because DUers alone would get the references. But then I realized some people might read that and assume I'm gay. And then I'd have to punch some one to prove how manly I am, even if it's just a skinny girl scout selling cookies. And doing that would make me cry. Hysterically.

1. Why would you have to punch someone if they thought you were gay?
I don't get it.

5. Sorry. I was trying to do a parody of an insecure male. Punching a girl sc
I assumed saying I'd punch a girl scout was over the top enough to show I wasn't serious. I thought that would be a giveaway. But perhaps it's hard to do wink-nudge sarcasm over the internet.

8. Whewf! I'm glad you clarified. It might have been lost on me
because I didn't get the "dances with boxturtles" part. And, since there is no infliction of your voice in a typed message, it's probably best to add the sarcasm smilie or <j/k> in this type of message (IMHO, of course)

13. "Dances With Boxturtles" is a reference to John Cornyn's comments...
"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right...Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

2. Erm...you make it sound like being gay is a bad thing.
Is that your intent?

7. Intent was that macho insecurity is a bad (violent) thing. See post above.
Again, I retract my soured attempts at silliness and simply repose the question.

4. I'd probably go with "Nero"
Given the parallels between the stories of Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned, and little King Georgie playing the guitar while New Orleans sank.

10. if you had two names
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 05:20 PM by atomic-fly
you could open two tabs and log in with each name. Then you could tab back and forth and make your post seem more interesting and popular.
Not that I would do that.

12. Number Six
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 05:27 PM by Gregorian
In fact, I was banned from DU after two posts several years ago when I had that name. I will never know why I was banned. A total mystery. I think I used two exclamation points in a subject line. I hope they don't reban me now that they know.

Edit- Oh, I'd be Number Six because I quit a high paying job and turned down an offer to be the president of an electronics corporation, so I could move to a 500 square foot cabin in the forest of the Santa Cruz mountains.

Edit edit- I forgot, you're not supposed to be serious. Oh well.
