We moved last weekend, and our little cat got lost.

He ran out the door while furniture was being taken out, and repeated trips back to the old house have failed to locate him.

If he never comes back, I hope somebody nice took him in, and I'll remember him like this:

so with gas it's hard to go back more than three times a week to look for him.

I know that a huge majority of indoor cats are VERY close to their house (like, within feet). You have to search REALLY good in every possible nook and cranny around your house.

Can you talk to the new owners of your house and ask them to look for you and call you right away if they spot him?

6. We did indeed leave our number,

we were renting this house, and the owners and other neighbors have promised to keep an eye open for him. The owners are going to leave the garage unlocked so he can be put there if found.

He was a feral rescue, I hope he does not revert.

PLEASE try to find your kitty. Indoor cats are likely very close to where they were lost. If you could take this photo and print out a few copies with your phone number and take it to your neighbors, it will likely help a lot. Also, set out a "kitty buffet" of tuna and other yummy stuff in your yard to try and intice your kitty home. You might also consider a humane trap along with the kitty buffet.

Please try and find your kitty...I'm sure he's scared to death without you! I am praying you find your kitty...please keep us posted, ok?

You could ask the rescue where you got him if they can help? Most rescues would not only be willing to help they would definitely want to know he was missing. I'd bet they could and would help.

One of our cats from the past may have adopted us because of a similar circumstance. We lived near a college and I have always felt she got lost during a move. She had definitely belonged to people at some pointin time.

My cat did the same damn thing years ago. Go back the next day and I promise he will be there. That's what they do. My boy was waiting on the fence meowing when I pulled up.

Keep trying, don't give up. Check the shelters. Scour the neighborhood. Just don't give up.

I kept going back to my old apartment. Finally I made one last trip to look for her before the new tennents took possesion and as I was standing in the empty apartment about to give up, out came my Harriet looking up at me like "Hey, where've you been?". The apt was completely bare; I have no idea where she'd been hiding, but I was so relieved.

It only took me one trip back so I was lucky, but I would have kept coming. I'm so happy it turned out happy for you. I don't know what I'd do if my pets just disppeared. I'm rather anal attentive about their whereabouts at all times.

17. You could also try putting out the "have-a-heart" humane traps

You might catch other people's cats, too, but if you cat is wandering around the house, he might be suckered into going for a can of food sittin in the trap. I think most vets have these kinds of traps.

Anyway, if I were you, I'd keep going out there.

He will come back looking for food, and you can have the neighbors watch the trap and call you if anything happens.

The humane society will loan you a trap, I got one once when I lost my cat.

24. I am so sorry! *sad hugs* I thought I lost Pickles when we moved

several years ago. Tim packed the cats *i kid you not* in the big tool box in the bed of his truck. Plenty of room and and air, but I worried that they might push the top open.

Anyway, we got to the new house, carried that honking husge box down to the basement and opened it up. Pretzel jumped out in a hurry and scrambled up the shelving and behind the fiberglass insulation. That was panic moment number one

Panic moment number two was looking into the box and seeing no Pickles. None. She wasn't there. I had ridden in the back of the truck with them and couldn't figure out how she could have disappeared. I never let them!

I ran up the stairs crying and calling for her. It was dark out so I grabbed a flashlight and searched the back of the truck and around the yard.

Nothing.

I ran back downstairs and was sobbing at this point. My in-laws were there and I swear they were almost laughing over my reaction ine a "it's just a cat" kinda way. But they have never lost their cat, so they wouldn't know.. whereas I have lost countless pets over the years and that was why I kept my kitty babies inside all the time.

Anyway, we heard a meow and it was definitely not Pretzel, who was still in the wall somewhere. He has a very timid and sweet meow. Pickles is like the Ethel Merman of felines.. very sassy and bold and LOUD. (Which is funny cause she is so small and all.)

So we look at the tool box again. Clearly the meow came from it. And yet it is empty.

Or was it?

Tim pulled out the slide-in tool tray.. and there she was, pressed flat against the bottom of it. Somehow in her panic during the ride she managed to wiggle into that tiny tray and had gotten stuck there.

I was so happy to have her back!

I can only imagine how badly you are feeling without your kitty baby. I only dealt with that anguish for a few minutes. Well, that time, at least. :hug:

25. My kitty was missing for a week +... turned up in a neighbor's garage...

Perhaps you could ask some of your old neighbors to have a look around in their garages or back yards?
The person that found our kitty wasn't someone I knew well at all, but she had seen the pictures I posted all over the neighborhood, and recognized my cat in her garage.
He was dirty and a bit hungry, but otherwise a-ok.
