Not only do you get just about shot out of your chair from the huge BOOM they generate to set the cars off, but then you are left with the wonderful aftermath of a screaming car alarm.

When I can hear a car coming from four blocks away and my Bugs Bunny salt & pepper shakers are dancing in the china cabinet, it is TOO DAMN LOUD.

I have retaliated on occassion. When the buttheads down the street have sat under my window on a Saturday night with doors and trunk open, musin blaring, I have opened my window and let them have a little Kiri singing Puccini as loud as I can get it. I just hold my speaker out the window and stare at them until they leave.

I'm 26, and I've hated it since I was a teen. I had friends that did this, and I could hear them coming from nearly a mile away, no lie. One kid had so much power to his pair of 15" speakers in his trunk he blew the lid off. The concussive force was so much that it broke the trunk latch on his Monte Carlo. Some of these assholes can be heard driving down the street, which happens to be about a half mile away.

There is a "sport" called Car Stereo Races, where the owners of these "boom cars" get together to "race" their stereo system (see who has the loudest, most bass, etc).

The shops that install them also have such vehicles; however, they make the ones you see on the street pale in comparison. I read about one such vehicle that is so loud that you cannot get within 50 feet while the system is playing above low volume (its operated by remote control).

I don't know about the rest of us, but it's quite obviously a racial thing for you, but try to see past your own bizarre defensiveness to the core of the issue. Nobody is complaining about people of whatever race enjoying whatever kind of music. They are complaining about being forced to endure horrible noise and vibrations against their will, sometimes being projected from blogcks away. The genre of music & race of driver are irrelevant. Here in Miami, a lot of it is white spanish-speakers playing salsa music - equally annoying with boom. Jingle Bells would be annoying with boom.

The vast majority of posts have not been saying any of those things, even though you've tried posting the same little snippets over & over bacause you've tried to read into them a sentiment that's not there.

I Suggest that boom cars be banned in all cities, with strict penalties. Those who like boom cars could be free to go live in "Boom City". I'll guarantee that very few people would want to live there, since boomers like to torture others with their noise, but if they were surrounded by it and forced to endure it 24/7, they might not like it so much.

Last, even if everybody here railing against boomers is a raving KKK racist, 70 years of age, it doesn't make them any less correct in demanding that people respect their right to reside in their homes in a state of relative peace without being violated by an 80 decibel boom.

Come to my town and you'll see that it's not only "black music" being played at outrageous levels. I get Latin music, I get some really interesting/bizarre Chinese pop music, I get disco, I get the old 70s/80s rock dinosaurs like Led Zepplin and Journey, and I even get hit with some C&W a few times a month. And yeah, I get hip hop and rap music (primarily played by white kids).

And if a wonderbread & mayo white boy were to sit outside my window on a Saturday night and play fucking Perry Como or Frank Sinatra or your boy Elvis at a decibel level that causes cracks in my drywall I would still want to call the cops because it AIN'T ABOUT THE MUSIC IT'S ABOUT THE FUCKING VOLUMN. I like loud music. I like some shit that would make my neighbors cringe if I were to play it so loudly that they could hear it. But guess what? I was taught to RESPECT my neighbors, so I choose not to subject them to my musical tastes at a volumn that reaches beyond my walls or car.
