For no reason, and no segue worth a shit, I just wanna dis Oprah
cuz I can't fucking stand her, and never have, ever since she showed up on the fake teary-eyed "Oooh, I'm really feeling your pain" bullshit talk show circuit way back on her first day.

:puke:

Thankfully, at least she's a dem, and gives her money away pretty well.

But, for god's sake, she's SUCH A FUCKING FAKE!

And so annoying.

but on the other hand, all the power to her for being what she is. She made it, and she did it her way. Her way has little integrity on the set, but I think she has a lot of integrity behind the set.

Still, she makes me sick, and every time she sheds a fake tear (which is, of course, EVERY time she sheds a tear) she makes me wanna puke.

:puke:

Fucking fake.

1. So basically what you're saying is:
she sucks but she is great.

m'kay. Got it.

4. Yeah, it's kinda weird.
I respect her for some things, and totally don't respect her for others...

and am never sure what side to actually come down on.

Though I am certain of this: as a talk show host, in the actual talk-show-hosting facet of that position, she makes me fucking sick, and always has.

But on the other hand, I appreciate that even though she's a total fucking phony in her talk-show-hosting facet of that position, she's HER OWN fake. Meaning, unlike say Montel Williams or Arsenio or Ricky lake, I don't think she's ever let the corporations tell her what to be -- she's fake, but she's HER OWN fake. And I can at least applaud that much integrity.

I have to say that I do wish she would occasionally put someone else on the cover of her magazine. It just is to egotistical for me to stomach!

9. I was just talking about that in my post...
The thing is, how many other magazine covers regularly feature minority women over 30, bigger than a size 6? Or a women like that of any race?

I don't *want* to see another size 4 model, or yet *another* celebrity (like Instyle/People/cosmo/all women mags). It's a nice little schtick she's got going. Plus, it's her magazine, LOL. It's probably fun to get all gussied up like that for *your* magazine.

People tune in to watch her, I'm also thinking they figure people see her face and trust it.

Not that I've read a lot of them, but I do respect her enough to trust her choice in books. All of them that i've read - which is perhaps only five - have been excellent.

7. She is the freakin queen! What you talkin' bout Willis?
I love Oprah. She has come from less than nothing, really, and she is extremely powerful for, basically, talking.

That is nuts.

But she has given insane amounts of money away, she started a school for girls (or maybe everyone?) somewhere in Africa, she's smart, she's successful, etc. etc. etc. And how freaking awesome is it that she started her *own* magazine, and puts a middle aged, regularly sized black woman on the cover every month? I know some find that to be egotistical, but if she starts putting other people on the cover I worry about it turning into every other mag. Plus, it must be so cool for her, who probably never thought she'd be on anyone's cover.

I'd much rather my daughter look up to her than any of the little starlets getting attention these days.

11. Oooh, can I play--I hate her too!!
(Bliss jumping up and down, waving arms wildly)...

I give her credit for getting people to read, giving lots of money to Dem causes, bringing some attention to causes and world situations that may not otherwise have been noted.

I no longer have tolerance for Oprah, and choose not to watch her show. The most fake, narcisstic, annoying, two-faced, hypocritical, celebrity-ass-kissing woman on the planet.

I lost all kinds of respect for her. If she would just keep track of the crap she says and be consistent, I might still be a fan. But not anymore. She condemns our society and culture for being celebrity obsessed, yet she will practically put her head in their hineys when they are on her show....sickening!

I don't understand people that quote her and speak of her like she is a goddess or something. She's still human, and as such fallible. She seems to be buying into her own press of late. I used to like her humility. That's apparently gone, with all the weight she lost.

39. I get the sense that it is the nation's collective guilt
about slavery and racial discrimination, that convinces them of otherwise where she is concerned. Oprah seems, for a lot of people, representative of the minority success story. So many caucasion women and men have tapped into that.

I've seen people embrace Oprah as some sort of 'token minority.' In the sense of, "I'm not bigoted or racist, because I watch Oprah and I read her magazine."

Somehow this pisses me off even more than if they just denied the fact that they are bigots. Their enjoyment of Oprah, is supposed to be indicative of their tolerance and open mindedness...

17. Did anyone else see Bush's wife on Oprah several months ago?
I cannot remember when exactly it was on but Condi was the featured guest. There was a little girl who wrote to Oprah stating sweetly that Condi was her idol. Of course, the little girl was in the front row and was called up to meet the ice queen. I've never seen such an anathema on display by an adult. It seemed like she was absolutely revolted and almost scared of a little girl. Condi was trying to be warm and hug her but it fell completely flat in an almost scary way, like if she touched the innocent child her evil powers would vanish.

Did anyone else witness this?

25. She is the most wretchedly NARCISSISTIC person alive!!!!
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 10:38 AM by ZombyWoof
You were way too kind. Not only does she purvey fake empathy, but fake spirtuality, fake taste, and fake EVERYTHING. And her fucking magazine - puts herself on the cover EVERY MONTH, and it is always the same self-fulfilling bullshit every time. :nuke:

Fuck that over-egotistical narcissistic wretch. May her shit (which she thinks doesn't smell) come to life, and kiss her.

On edit: Fuck her Book Club too. I am glad people read, but having worked as a bookseller when her club started, she really pissed off publishers by recommending books without giving them time to meet demand. That later got rectified, but for awhile, we were swamped with idiot soccer moms who would ask for her latest selection when were 6 weeks away from stocking. What pissed me off was that they could never decide FOR THEMSELVES what they should read - they needed Oprah to make up their minds. I am sure when they were students in high school, they bought the Cliff's Notes for their papers and tests. But now that Queen Fucking Oprah tells them what to read, they have to annoy the bejesus out of every bookseller on the planet, and they even admitted to me on occasion that they didn't understand the books, but felt it would make them more inteeleckshual if they read them. :eyes:

Fuck Oprah with a Tom Cruise poster.

I am so tired of her 'giving to charity' but making sure everyone on the planet knows about it. That bullshit of giving away all those cars to the needy.. She never paid a dime for those cars(the car company donated them) and many of the recipients had to get rid of them up because they couldn't afford the tax and license. Why the fuck couldn't she fork out that for them? but nooooo.. she got the glory then walked away.

Her picture is on EVERY magazine cover.. is that really necessary? Her face is on freaking billboards all over the place telling us what the next day's show is about. :eyes:

But most of all.. When she gave that bastard Schwarzenegger free time during the recall election I wanted to kick her ass. For that I will NEVER forgive her. She should have stayed the fuck out of that.

Her followers are like Stepford bimbos. :puke: :puke:
