Poll question: A serious question for designers, artists, architects, and otherwise
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 07:47 PM by DS1
creatives.

In which block of hours do you do your best thinking/work?

Please select the bracket that best matches the time when you do your best work.

edit: every html/css designer should see this site at least once

http://www.csszengarden.com

It's the same html on every site, the only thing that changes is the style sheet - and graphics.

1. I picked 11 pm to 2am
but generally it's like 9pm thru finish-so if it's something I can't put down, I will stay up until my work is not up to snuff.

6. I don't really start until I lay my head down on my pillow
around 1 am. And lay awake thinking about concepts and sketching them out, until 2 am. If I had a more hours lenient job, I'd probably stay awake until 10 the next morning programming something and making it work.

2. If I can get up and get started, around 4-6 am is best for me
No one is awake, I can take a walk if I have to, have coffee, watch the sun rise--all that helps me out. It's mostly about having quiet, a peaceful distraction-free atmosphere and no extraneous people moving around.

4. Within a few hours of waking up.
I credit my morning caffein jolt with some of that, but continuing to drink coffee throughout the day brings diminishing returns.

5. In the morning while I'm still sober...
and into the afternoon. Then 6 o'clock comes and...well...let's just say that when I create at 2am it's more like a psychotic outburst than art.

7. psychotic outburst
interesting, but not what I'm getting. what I typically get at those hours is something that would kick fucking ass, but take about 2 months to program. ouch.

8. 4 am knows all my secrets
It's when I finally give up and just do it. And when I wake up in the morning bleary-eyed - hating myself for writing that, for designing that.... I also feel secretly proud. I'm so inhibited and repressed... but at 4 am it's all open. And that's when my best work is done.

Khash.

10. It just comes to me at random times
But usually late at night because that's when I actually attempt to be creative.

That site is great. Really good wxample of the versatility of CSS.
