2. There are lots of Red Wings fans here
Some of the problems:

1) Trading Federov. This should not have happened. He supplied a lot of defense, a lot of energy, and a lot of spark. That said, I would not be shocked to see him return.

2) Goalies. There is no clear starting goalie and none of the three seem to be playing at a level that establishes him as a clear starter. My hope is that Cuju gets healthy, some other goalie on another team gets injured, and we can trade him for a fast skater who can score.

3) The Canucks - they've injured two of our best players with their dirty play.

4) Coaching. I always thought Barry Smith would have been the better head coach, between Smith and Lewis, and I stick to that.

5) Age. Hey, Guy LaFleur was a great player back in the day. I just hope they don't sign him.

4. Federov
was irreplacable. They still have Yzerman, Shanahan, lidstrom and Hull, but even a Brett Hull cannot fill in the gap that federov left.
Federov, Shanahan and Yzerman were like the Three Amigos.

3. I...I....I have no idea
but I hope they snap the hell out of it. Bear in mind though that only 1/8 of the season has been played thus far so there's still time to turn it around. I hope

5. Checking in,,,
Age, age, age. The Wings are the geriatric all-stars.

Chelios: 41
Hull: 39
Yzerman: 38
Hasek: 38
Joseph: 36
Shanahan: 34
Lidstrom: 33

Even Fedorov is 33, had they held on to him, they'd still be an old team.

No offense to DUers in their thirties, I don't consider you old... but you don't play in the NHL. The Red Wings are old. They were built to win a couple of years ago, and they did just that. Now it's rebuilding time.

8. please
consider all the young stars on the team too (some of which are out with injuries).

up until 35 is still average age in the NHL. and I'd take Lidstrom, Hull, Chelios, and Yzerman over anyone else at their positions age or not

Yeah, they are sucking wind this year. They need a good, young goalie who is not named Curtis Joseph.
