Poll question: Which will get me more money?
A)
Selling off everything I have in a garage sale

B)
Giving it all to goodwill and write it off for tax season?

1. do you need the hard, cold cash?
also, if some of what you have has value, you might consider selling it on ebay?

3. I will not use those fuckers at ebay. Damn thieves.
They USED to be a good service.

Why do I need the money? Open up your eyes. In this country, we need money for everything. For what putrid little it's worth, I don't mind living for a few more months.

Besides, I am rejecting the separatist technological filth our corporate traitors want us to wallow in.

6. Gee. My questions were certainly not meant to be inflammatory to you.

I also did not ask you 'why do I need the money'. I was only trying to see if you needed the actual cash vs. a paper return. As stated in other posts in this thread, depending on your tax bracket, donating may or may not be very helpful. Sometimes, we all just need cold, hard cash quickly, therefore, my question, thinking you may need the benefit of actual dollars, than something on paper. Just trying to give you helpful suggestions to realize a greater benefit.

Best of luck to you. Peace.

2. c) Selling your body.
Seriously, it all depends on your tax particulars and what you're getting rid of.

If you can actually sell things for a reasonable price, it's probably cheaper to sell than write off.

4. Probably A
If you are middle income or below, I don't think that you save that much on taxes with charitable giving.
Option A would also get you money a lot quicker than option B.
Option A would probably make you more money anyway especially if you have some higher priced items that people want.

5. If you itemize and are in an income bracket
above say $45 k....

The time and trouble of putting on a garage sale will not compensate for the tax write off.....
