Chicago, are you ready? (From Pam's House Blend blog)
http://www.pamspaulding.com/weblog/

Hi, Pam,

I thought you and your Blenders might find this item interesting. As a "celebration" of 9/11, the Chicago suburb of Wheaton is planning a pro-military war rally, kind of like the one that the Pentagon is planning. I learned about this from the letter below which appeared in the local Daily Herald, today. Highlights of this "patriotic" event include the participation of just about every sleazy Republican in the area (and in Wheaton, that's a lot), as well as Master of Ceremonies Sandy Rios from Concerned Women for America and, as a special treat for closet queens, Peter LaBarbara has promised to make an appearance.

SNIP!

Perhaps some Blenders might want to contact Wheaton mayor C. James Carr ([email protected]) and express their polite disapproval of a pro-war hate fest masquerading as a fun family event. Oh, BTW, the author of the letter, Dave Diersen, is one of the founders of www.adversity.net, an organization dedicated to opposing equal opportunities for minorities. Swell guy.

The author of the letter below is Dave Diersen, is one of the founders of adversity.net, an organization that fights for those that suffer "reverse discrimination." He describes himself as a: "52 year old, white, male, conservative, and a contributing member of the Republican Party since 1976. His interests include current events, automobiles, consumerism, and bicycling."

Invitation to picnic backing patriotism

Four reasons to attend the Sept. 11 Patriot Day Picnic in Wheaton:

1. Show your support for America, for its war on terrorism, and for its military and law enforcement personnel.

2. Enjoy free food and beverages between noon and 2 p.m. — pork sandwiches courtesy of Ray Poe, Debbie Malek; hot dogs and Polish sausages courtesy of State Farm Insurance Agent Mark Prutzman; Jays Potato Chips courtesy of John Cox; soft drinks and water courtesy of Chirinjeev Kathuria; ice courtesy of Gary Muehlfelt and ice cream and flavored milk courtesy of Oberweis Dairy. Four DuPage County Sheriff law enforcement vehicles will be on display as well as several collector cars.

3. Hear an outstanding keynote address by Jim Nalepa at 2 p.m. Jim is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He served in various leadership capacities in the U.S. Army before leaving the military as a captain in 1984. He is founder and president of Jim Nalepa and Associates, a leadership-centered executive search firm. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and a USO board member. Sandy Rios will be the master of ceremonies. She is a nationally-known conservative activist and spokesperson, Fox News contributor, president of Culture Campaign, president of Concerned Women for America 2001-2004, and WYLL, 1160-AM radio program host 1993-2001.

4. Speak with your elected officials and candidates — confirmed attendees include Joe Birkett, Fed Bucholz, Jim Carr, Kirk Dillard, Mike Fortner, Richard Furstenau, Ron Gidwitz, Gwen Henry, Randy Hultgren, Roger Jenisch, Chirinjeev Kathuria, Howard Levine, Tom Mouhelis, Gary Muehlfelt, Jim Oberweis, Debra Olson, Carol Pankau, Raymond Poe, Jim Rasins, Peter Roskam, Darlene Ruscitti, Leonard Sanchez, Pete Siekmann, Ron Smith, Sandy Wegman, Tim Whelan, Jon Zahm and John Zaruba. John Cox, Kaili Harding and Peter LaBarbera have also confirmed. The picnic will in beautiful Memorial Park, just north of downtown Wheaton.

1. Notice how the immediate emphasis is on free food, being "given away"
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 11:25 PM by The_Casual_Observer
by millionaire bastards who know that nobody would attend this monster rally unless they got something for it.

An inducement of free food is the domain of high pressure sales promotions for defective real estate deals, merchandise and services.
