finially, im done formatting all my music.
i started at about 5 30 this afternoon, i have 7 days of music to format. had to reformat it to work with the ipod that i just got. im very impressed with the ipod and itunes... the headphones are kinda crappy but thats what you get with earbuds, and ive got plenty of headphones around here anyway.

phew, almost 12 hours of ripping discs at a computer, im stiff. kinda boring. but everything is nice and organized and high quality all on my computer now, plus, i dont have ot take my 150ish cd's to college with me, thats a relief.

1. I've always kinda wanted an iPod too...
What's this about re-formatting all your music? Does it not just play mp3's? That's disheartening! I have so much on my computer it would take DAYS and DAYS!

3. Quite an achievement
I keep thinking about transfering my C.D.s to computer - there are several which have been copied onto the hard-disk, but the large majority are still not.

How much space does your C.D. collection take up? Mine is probably in the same region (150ish) - would it all fit into a big M.P.3 player?

6. about 10 gig
i ripped at a medium quality though, about 160kps.

10gig is about half my ipod, while i dont listen to all my music i coulda gotten away with ripping at a lower quality and only putting the songs i listen to frequently on a smaller ipod, but this way i figure i have room to grow, because my CD collection has grown rapidly in the last year as it is, so i better budget a little extra space.

5. I got one of those Bose sound dock thingys
And boy do I like it. I have it and the iPod set up in my office with my whole collection of music at my fingertips. And I'm 52 years old, so I'm kind of bemused at how much I enjoy my new toy.

7. I'd be willing to pay someone to rip my 1000 CD collection
I keep thinking about it, but then am totally daunted by the prospect and the amount of time it will take...and so don't do it.

Congrats on getting your 150 done!

8. If you want good earbuds...
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 01:21 PM by primate1
And especially ones that don't scream "I've got $400 worth of electronics on me right now" the way iPod earbuds do, check out the Sony MDR-EX51LP earbuds. Really good sound quality and amazingly comfortable.

You can actually get white ones to match your iPod too, but like I said, white earbuds are just advertising that you've got expensive equipment on you.
