5. It has nothing to do with running Windows 2000, it has to do with an
incompetent IT department.

I have all Win 2000 machines running in my network, never had a virus infection, never had a problem of any sort. Why? Because I actually install patches when they're available.

Very secure operating system. The type of computer Quinn would use if he could type.

26. If it's so secure, then why did they have to patch 40 vulnerabilities
yesterday? http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3527901

Oh, btw, Quinn is a Windows user.

2. How does a major corporation let their systems go unpatched?
I mean . . . this worm uses certain TCP and UDP ports, easily blocked. It is blockable using simple virus prevention techniques.

So how did they let it happen?

19. CNN just learned a very valuable lesson in corporate downsizing.

I retired from a large corporation and I know whereof I speak. When downsizing begins two things happen..... the talented people see the handwriting on the wall and move on to greener pastures and then secondly the terminations start. When the terminations begin it is usually those that are not in good with management that get the axe. Those that remain don't always have the most talent but that is not always thought of as a necessity, sometimes taking a back seat to "people skills". Today, CNN had a real good opportunity for introspection. Tomorrow they might have a different idea on what is important and what is not.
