and smoke, Also by the tree. almost 30 years ago. Spirit of 76. I just cant stop thinking about how much has changed. My god if stormtroppers raided my senior class, they certainly would have found ganga and maybe a little paraphernalia. Then, just think, they could have had the trials and executions right on campus. I remember one of my friends made a bong in shop class. He would have been dragged out by four guys holding guns to his head, and what maybe shot if showed any resistance. OH MY GOD, how did we get here?

3. When I used to ditch and go smoke, since I didn't have a car,
I'd walk across the street, and sit under the bridge across the Coral Gables canal and watch manatees float.

6. Same era - we were so careless
it wasn't funny. I'm surprised more of us weren't busted.

People used to take the ceramics class just so they could make pipes!

The world has changed and not for the better. Only the smallest number of those using drugs actually suffered any more than short term ill effects - many of my high school smoking peers have gone on to respectable jobs, raising families, pillars of the community, etc.

8. yes yes yes
don't you think that we will look back at the last 30 years as the very very very best of times, good jobs, strong unions, good wages, civil rights, good music, good schools, no gun culture (ok in the 70's) maybe it wasn't all good but it wasn't bad, I don't understand why the rabid right hates our past great society so much.

9. Times haven't changed so much.
Kids still make bongs in pottery class. Hell, we actually had one on display in the main lobby during most of my senior year in high school - last year - and apparently the teachers had no idea. I won't even get into the sales that go on in school. We were threatened at one point with the possibility of drug-sniffing dogs, but it never came to pass.

I really feel for those SC kids. I was in total disbelief when I heard about it. What the hell is next - mandatory drug testing in public schools?
