1. umm, it's a little cold so......
Oh not bad, just about ready to jump in the shower and make some breakfast before some of the political shows come on. Sunday is the only day I actually get some sleep and get up early. That's how big of a political nerd I am. :)

2. Cold?
I wish it was cold here. Blech, it's already 85 degrees in my house. I'm so not meant for hot weather.

That's alright. I was just trying to decide whether I should watch a movie, watch some political shows, or continue packing... hmmmm decisions decisions.

3. lol, no it's not cold here
The "cold" part was a reference to "how's it hanging." Cold creates, uh, shrinkage in guys, so I was making a fake excuse. Oh, nevermind. I'm digging myself into a hole. :)

Packing for what? Where are you going?

I am jumping in the shower right now. Brb.

4. Howdy Bill
Looks I got you both beat as far as the temperature goes (and I'm in that humid sub-tropical 'paradise' of SC): it's 74 outside and 77 inside, but the humidity is a whopping 77%.

It was good to actually talk to you last night.

Yeah it was. I'm downloading that John Prine song right now, it's pending, a for songs down on my list, but I should have it in about 30 minutes or so.

Well, I'm going to go cook. I'll be back and forth between tv, food and DU for a few hours.

5. Ahhh. I know about shrinkage.

I'm moving on Friday. I hate this neighborhood. Damn crackheads. Literally, there is a crack house half a block from me. I can't wait. Real air conditioning! And maybe I can go more than three months without a car break-in.

I took a shower, too. Good idea! Nothing like an ice cold shower on a really hot day.

6. the shame of all men everywhere :)
I used to live in downtown Seattle. My friend and I had a video camera he was using for a project robbed from us. I chased the guy for a little bit, but I didn't want to get jumped by any others. I wrote about it in that story you read in the writer's forum.

Crackheads. You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em....

That made no sense whatsoever. :)

It's good that you're getting into a better place anyway. Nothing like being in a safer, better place.

7. I do remember that.
I wondered how much of that story came from real experiences you've had.

And yes, it will be quite nice to get out of here. The new neighborhood looks decent enough. There is a trail through the woods nearby the my mutts will love. It is an apartment complex, which I didn't want to live in again, but at this point anything is better than where I am now. And it's only for a year.

11. Howdy
I'm Left_Winger. I chose that name because there are so many red-necks around here and they usually say something like, '...that left wing SOB...', etc.

I find Bill to be rather humourous, blunt yet eloquent when engaging in political discourse; he has an excellent combination of many talents.

I chose mine as a combination between my mutts and the fact the I used to work at Toys R Us.

I like Bill, he's a good guy. I was just hoping to get a rise out of him but he's apparently not paying attention.

just for fun during a small flame war about sports mascots and political correctness. I tried to give as good as he gave... mutual 'chain-rattling' so to speak.

I like your name too, pretty cool way to make one up. BTW, I like the pics of your dogs.

We must remember that Bill is three hours behind us, it's only 7am out yonder.

Glad to hear that you're getting out of what seems to be an awful neighbourhood.

24. How dreadful!
I was reading about how Tom Petty wrote some lyrics about the sound of surf he could hear from his apartment, when he was sarcastically referring to the noise from one of those LA freeways.

Please forgive my short absence as I must pop out to do some shopping; absolutely nothing to eat in the house and itt is getting close to lunchtime. I will return in about twenty minutes.

If the two of you are still around I will pop back in.

I was talking to my parent's the other day about getting that cabin I was telling you about. They are going up to our reservation town tomorrow to do some things and are going to get some info for me. So I may know more here pretty soon.

32. Montana State Senate
For the first time in over 16 years we have a democratic governor, and, even longer than that, democratic control of the state legislature. Our State Senator is in the last year of his last term, so I'm going to give it a shot.

I may have a pretty prominent challenger in the primary, I don't know if she's going to run though. She's our State Rep. and the current Vice-Chair of the MT Dem. Party. I think I can beat her though. Our district is so small, I just need to get some friends and family to turn out, plus split some votes elsewhere and I'll be right in there. I'm going to have to get some money though. Not much, because it is a small district, but I'll need to raise, probably a few thousand. I'd like more though.

34. Thanks a lot
I appreciate it. I need to find a treasurer and begin to set all of that stuff up so I can start notifying people. I already have other DU people ready to donate, but I just need to get that one step set up. I can't get ahold of the top person on my list, so I'm going to have to look elsewhere.

I have never ran for anything. Student council in 4th grade was about it, haha. Oh, Vice-President of the Indian Club when I was a Senior in HS. I won that, but everybody wanted me to be president, but I just said, no I'll be vp, so a few people raised their hands and that was that, lol. I'm a little nervous. One thing though, I am a very competitive person. As an athlete, in writing, really just anything, I love to compete and win. So I think that's going to come out in me once I get back home and get into the thick of things.

35. I just hope that...
the incumbent does not try an ad hominem approach against you. For example: If you nailed the incumbent on a topic or issue, could your time at an out of state university be used against you to dodge the fact that your point(s) is(are) more valid?

How long have you been away from home?

36. the incumbent is term limited
he's totally gone. But, this other lady can switch over and run against me.

You know, I've been away for about 5 years. I'm a little worried about that exact thing you were talking about. The thing is, our district is so small, I doubt we'll even have a debate. Plus, my writing skills will help me a lot, as I am going to articulate myself in op-eds and so forth. I think I'm going to be effective going door to door to door etc. I can shake hands, and meet everybody in my district easily. I know most of them in the first place, etc. I figure if I can get 20 people to work for me it will go a long way to really helping me out. Also, the very popular new governor, Brian Schweitzer, doesn't really get along with the woman I may have to run against, so I have heard that he may endorse me if I can get on board with some of his ideas. My county chairman told me that. So we'll see how it all works out.

but don't forget to kiss those babies! LOL!

I was watching CNN and a mother of a Marine who was KIA in Iraq last week was on camera. She was saying that the pResident said that her son had died for a noble cause. She wants to know what that cause is. On top of all that, I noticed that she was wearing a VFP hat.

38. that poor woman
at least she had a VFP hat on anyway.

I was watching This Week with George Stephanopoulos a few hours ago and they had a couple on from Ohio along with Dennis Kucinich. Their son just died in Iraq and DK is their congressman. It was sad. The father seemed to believe that we had to stay the course etc, but the mother really was in disagreement, you could tell she was wrestling with the issue of the war quite a bit. It almost had me in tears watching those poor people.

Obviously, you aren't in favor of this war, but I was curious about some other conflicts we've been involved in, such as Bosnia and Kosovo. What was your opinion on all of that?
